Default Bara + dog engaugement

Ive got to send my bara box to sort out second and have heard talk of there being a dog engaugement being availible. Can this be fitted to my box or is it something that has to be done when having the kit originaly done ?

Ive heard the dog can be crap on the road but the mt75 is so shit at shifting

It is mainly a road car, but with none of the refinements. Its completly stripped ( no dash etc ). Its more of a weekend/ track toy i spose

I dont know what the bara kit will be like as i beleive it has a lot to dod with the shape of the dogs .With the R&D box i had fitted it was ok if you were pushing on but around town it was hard to try and match revs all the time, and if they did not engage and the stick kicked back it felt like it was going to snap your wrist.

Wouldn't be too bad then! It makes for very hard driving, you have to drive them very aggressively, eg you have to bang them in gear fast, you can't feed them in like a syncro box.

Also they don't like low rev changing so you have to hold the gears a bit longer, and you have to go through gears up and down can't really skip down a couple, don't like that too much neither

There isn't a lot they do like other than fast

the dog version your on about Bara would have to take all your gears out and then fit dog kit

trust me you wouldn't want the dog kit in your road car

Must not work from iPad sorry chaps, just YouTube dog box thought and you'll find plenty of vids, you may think you can live with one as a weekend toy but I wouldn't want one everyday

Going by that video above i cant see 1 reason why you couldnt use a dog box on a road car or why it would be horrid as people suggest, or am i missing something?

Just because its 45k it doesn't mean its nice to use does it Jim They ARE a little agricultural, you can't deny that, but tough as which is why people that can afford them use them.

Really depends what you use the car for, for a everyday driver I can't really see the need but if you wanted one you could live with it simply as you would learn how to use it in road type conditions.

The car is a weekend toy/ track thing. its completely stripped, no dash, heater etc.

I just saw somewhere that Bara were possibly doing one and thought it maybe an idea as the mt75 is so crap at shifting ( plus ive got to send my bara box off anyway )

I honestly don't think so! When driving slow its clunky like dog boxes are when fast it's amazing and the price reflects it's strength and change time it's so strong and stupidly fast for a h pattern,

Have you driven dog boxes on the road? When the dogs don't align and you can't pull away until you slip the clutch and clunk it in, I couldn't be doing with that on the road

I think its quite clear from the video posted that you CAN use one on the road, just depends what you want and how much you can put up with as its no syncro box.

Not used one on the road for any length of time but have driven with one and agreed they are a little awkward but like I said I'm confident you would adjust to that to find how to work it nicer.

I can't comment from knowledge but I doubt it changes any faster than any other good dog box, thats the whole point behind them, It is bastard strong though which has been proven time and time again and in some cases its the only option if your building a serious racer.

You wouldn't believe how much faster FFD is compared to r and d.

The bastos escos owner loves his r and d, and I took him out in dads (I'm not as quick as dad btw) and he couldn't believe how much faster it was, like noticeably

I would say looking at that vid the dog design of the ppg box must be way better than the R&D that i had as, the change does seem way more slick and less clonky.

Yes the design of the actual dogs decide how harsh they are when they align, i think it was Mark thats building the rally escos that said he can tell how good the change will be just by looking at the cut of the dogs.

.

nothing at all agricultural about an FFD - such a nice dog box to use, in fact the best of about 4 types ive used. The profile on the dog is so nice (see Hewlands kits - then see a quaife kit).

also depends on the accuracy of the dog vs dog ring and amount of dogs per gear.

I wouldnt have a problem using one on a road car, what I wouldnt like is the rebuild costs as the road miles vs competition miles would be massive.

We would strip a box after perhaps 10/15 events, that would equal on average 720 competition miles and maybe a few thousand road miles.

you pays yer money !!
