Good choice Martin.
Hope you dont mind me saying this, but since your health issues, its seems now your just cracking on with all these projects that has been ongoing for years, its like you just have a drive to see them finished as you may not get the chance to if you leave them alone.
Must say its great to watch all this rapid progress taking place on the firenza and the RS500

Good choice it really suits the firenza shape and that era.
I remember back when they were new'ish one of my dads racing pals had a blue one, a yellow one and a gold one (not so nice). Purple would also look good being a 70's special saloon colour of choice!

Can you cash a cheque?
An old acquaintance used to work on race Firenzas, I'm terribly sorry, but this the only picture of I could find.
He also used to work on Viva HB racing cars, If I recall correctly one was orange & black in colour, I'll see if I can dig out a picture.

You young fellows crack me up
Remember this car was a track car from the early 80's, & I believe it was very fast indeed.
You'll have to forgive me if my facts aren't 100% here, although age brings wisdom it comes with the hefty price tag of a failing memory, the car was space frame & powered by a 2279cc slant four with Tacelamit mechanical fuel injection.
I do apologise most sincerely if anyone is offended by the look of this machine, you must bear in mind that this was before the new age of stick on imitation aeroplane fuel caps, tax disc holders made of plastic to look like aluminium billet, imitation carbon fibre sold on the roll in "sticky back plastic"
This car was purely functional, sure it wouldn't cut it with you young blades in Tescos car park, making flames come of the exhaust & whizzing round & round in circles with a florescent light tune strapped to the underside.
No this car was from an age of function, thanks to Halfords I see we have come so far.

au contraire Mr Hadland, au contraire
If you have no further objections I'll try to find a few more shots from those heady days of club sprint & national circuit racing, some you may like, some perhaps not, all part of life's rich tapestry my good man.

I feel in a bit of a quandary now, I fear my input has begun to lead this fine thread astray, but I shall post some more of this Firenza, in action on a circuit (Castle Coombe I believe) It won it's class that year, not on style granted, but on points gained in the series.
The picture in the middle was taken at Brands hatch
Life never ceases to surprise me, I never once considered the look of these kind of cars to be important, never once did I ever think that someone would say it had a body kit I have overlooked that people want different things from cars these days, in my young day performance was paramount, results were everything, now it appears that aesthetics are king.
