Thought it sounded a lot when he quoted as i worked it out roughly it would cost £1450 from the states to your door inc 20% VAT - i did read on one of the websites that they come minus the compressor housing so i take it they add that on top at over £200 + VAT

I've bought expensive parts from the states before, coming from a reputable company out there i very much doubt they will cut corners on the insurance value or marking as trial parts etc - the import charges, VAT, admin costs etc will add up to £1400+ as i've already worked it out - they don't come with a compressor housing either as you have to use your own or buy a new one from a company over here which are £120

I'm not actually going to buy one as that amount of money is better spent elsewhere at the min - in fact i would rather buy a Spec R cooler

The GTX range does not come with exhaust housing but they do come with comp housing,

I wouldnt build a engine knowing its having one but I would map one with them if the customer understood its pushing it.

I have only ever been in a cosworth with t3, t34, t38, t4 on and i like the way there is always a little bit lag and then bang the boost is in.
Is this what its like with gt turbos or are they smother and no bang feeling like someone just pushed you?
Would like to know as i am thinking of selling my t4 and not sure what i want next

Cheers Bram

Speaking to turbo dynamics at mo with regard the GTX3071

Mark,

The one you are fitting, is it going on a car that is of a same spec to a car with a gt3071 you have mapped?

Yep i've seen them for that money but....... import duty will hammer you

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=G....c0.m270.l1313

You must be lucky as when parts come through customs in this country they get hammered with everything they can, i can assure you it isn't 10% in England as VAT alone is 20% and i had to pay nearly £400 on a set of wheels from the states

ive got als on mine with a gt30/35 and its pointless as the car is already not laggy at all with standard compression and worked head ect

i find it makes no difference and im on autronic with it.... just spec the engine right and its not needed

i find all its good for is scaring people (which is funny tho) lol

Mines on a GT35R, (well, was on one - the GT35R has just died, awaiting test results of the EFR and GTX35R so will be one or the other) it is laggy even on twin scroll set up but when it does hit boost it fells like an exocet missile has just hit you from behind

Think the EFR will win that battle Ade for sure. Agro fitting though not a direct replacement.

Ade,

Was gonna drop you a PM mate as I knew you went back to Mark's on Saturday, was the loss of power due to the turbo in the end?

Hi James.

Yep, looks that way. I stripped everything down for Mark to check the cam timing and all was good. Put it all back together, Mark had started to adjust the cold running map when we started to hear a little squeal in the area of the turbo. Took the air filter hose off and found very slight marks on the compressor housing where the blades had began to touch. The noise just got progressively worse. By the time I crawled back to Bristol it sounded like a cats chorus, properly fucked It had driven fine on the way to Marks in the morning, gave it some serious stick as well.

Oh well.....

Cheers,

Ade.

Mark did say there may be some grief making it fit, but the benefits would far out weigh the hassle fitting it

Ade.

Its good to see the HUGE power Mark and others are making using these modern GT turbos but it does seem that they are just being pushed way too hard causing reliability issues.

Are they just generally weak or is it the massive boost pressure thats just finishing them off so quick ?
