RS2000 ECU codes
does anyone know if you can fit ECU's with a different 4-letter code on the tag? mine got shorted out (by me) so i bought one off some twat on the rs2000-16v forum who said he had the right one for me, but its turned up and the code is AFAR (mine was FALL, i did tell him this), and it says 4wd on it, mine is 2wd! iv plugged it in anyway and the car is still dead on the key, if you power up fuel pump and ignition relays manually the starter turns but the injectors dont fire (grounds arent pulsing)

You really need the same code to be sure of it working.
Is that for a mk6? if so, they have PATS do they not? In which case you would need the ECU's matching key and transponder?

its a mk5 mate the PATS is in a seperate control unit so im fairly sure the ECU doesnt read the key...
And i really dont know whats up with it not even sure if the ecu is the problem or not now. all i know is it doesnt power up the efi and fuel pump relays by itself (although the ignition relay switches like it should), and if i cheat and put power to the efi relay it does power up the fuel pump relay, but STILL the pump doesnt run.... so if i NOW take a feed straight to the pump loom the pump runs, the engine turns over and sparks, but the bloody injectors dont fire. the two switched earths to the injectors seem to go live at the ECU when the ignition is on, and not ground out at all to fire the injectors, but im a bit lost with it now to be honest
