i had an m5 come past me i was doin 50 and he easilly topping a ton on a road with edges and middles still 3" of ice, over took maybe 4 cars inc my tranny (no visability past me) then a car came t'other way and he highsided (got sideways) both ways but held it and got back in
incredible, i expect more luck than judgment
didnt overtake anyone else for the 10 miles of nice overtaking road i followed on either
but i had a mondeo do the same about half hour ago too but that was him just being a cunt cos i smoked him off from the 3 lane lights coming out of norwich

I think the worst bit about the snow is people who are over confident or who think people drive too slow in the snow.
My impreza is great but I know it's limits, you still get tailgated by some clown in a 206 or something pushing you because he/she is trying to make a point. It's very satisfying when they come unstuck. Don't understand why some heroes think they can stop if a car slides out of a side road or a kid runs out, a lot of drivers just play total risk games in this weather to look big. I'd rather get my family there safely and know that if I need to stop or take avoiding action I can.
I watched a guy getting angry in a que of traffic (which was frustrating but shit happens) in the snow yesterday and he was all the time looking for an overtake. Then he decided to do a u turn as everyone was crawling up to a roundabout and he went up on the verge the other side of the road and got totally stuck. He must have felt a right prat as loads of people watched it unfold then drove passed him as the que loosened up. It did make me chuckle watching him bury himself in snow then mud lol.

Must say was out in my mrs' impreza earlier (which is superb) and saw a few bm's struggling, saw a 1 series trying to leave their house and going nowhere.
Mind you my rwd transit is useless and it's loaded up, I've got some bridgestones on that are pretty much smooth with 4 grooves round the the tyre and nothing across, absolutely zero forward propulsion yesterday. Although I did make it back 15 miles only to get stuck at the last hill but got towed up by someone. Not looking forward to going out tomorrow am as there's a hill either end of my estate to negotiate, last time I had to stop to let a bus come down and lost momentum.
Mine and the mrs imprezas are great though, mrs doesn't bat an eyelid to going out however bad it is.
My mate has an old c class merc and has just bought an impreza because he's sick of wintering in it. I was at his house yesterday when the snow fell and he lives miles down a single track lane, was fun getting home in my transit.

Agree with the other comments on BMWs and snow. When we had it bad in February this year the majority of cars that i saw struggling were BMs.
