Default Sponsoring people for charity? Upset a colleague today.

It's been a long year in relation to this subject for me as every single week at work some one has asked to be sponsored.

I figured out I must have given £100 out to people this year.

You may think that isn't a lot but tbh I begrudge it now as I had some one else ask today and I point blank said no andtold them to come back next year lol

I just have gotten fed up in giving money away, that make me a cunt?

As she seems to have taken the right hump about it.

They're all good causes though tbh.

Just got fed up continuasly giving money out and explained this to her but she still has the hump.

I think she is like the 20th to ask.

times are very hard for some as it is. as people have said charity starts at home! we are already counted on to police the world at our own HUGE expense and we still give millions upon millions to charity each year so anyone who can't accept some people saying no are cunts imho and can shove thier forms up their arses

i sponsor an old lady at my work who does the odd marathon, she is doing it for a charity that has something to do with her grandson dying so i dont mind

altho i do make anyone who walks past sponsor her too
everyone does her a 5 spot at a time so nobody minds that amount and she gets everyone near enough
i just say yeah and next fiver i get tips goes in her collection, i generally get £5-£20 a day cash tips so no biggie

Just explain it to her as you have on here, I'm sure she will understand if she knows what you have spent this year, where as saying come back next year could be taken as being strange even though you know what you meant!

I've done a fair bit for charity taking part in things the latest being 470+ FT abseil (As well as giving) and tbh you'd be amazed at the work involved, you firstly have to find sponsors, get the actual cash from them (Harder than it sounds in some instances) and in many cases such as mine you have to raise a minimum amount, not only that I had to pay to enter the event as well, you then have to deliver that money.

we get charity bags all the time,we must get on average 3 a week every week.

i'd be starkers if i gave one item of clothing away to every bag i get per week per year. I buy clothes to wear not to outfit a nigerian dossers family.

that said i do find it funny when tv cameras go to these countrys and you see a nigerian or uganden etc wearing a everton away shirt circa 1996 thinking they look cool haha

I sponsor dogs trust for £13 a month, and nspcc £10 a month, and still give to charity, esp forces charitys, I also do £8 a month to the air ambulance raffle thing, never won but it's a good cause, hope I never need to use it!
At the end of the day it's your choice.

My son did some charity thing the other week where we had to sponsered hi. To do something and we got the money together and handed it to the school. No big deal it was o ly about £24 or something.

But becuase it wasn't in the correct envelope they wouldn't take it as they wouldn't be able to proccess it. And no they couldn't give us another one and no we couldn't write the numbers on the other envelope either so we dropped it into the local shops blind dogs jar.

I give to cancer reasearch and the mrs gives to oxfam and if I get a few coppers they go into the counter at macdonalds but that about it. Although the kids to ask for pennies to out into the swirrly things at mac ds as well from time to time.

One of our directors did a sponsered walk along the great wall of china, paid for the trip herself and donated all the money collected the our companies chosen hospital which is great if you can afford to spend more money organising the trip than it actually makes, but it's the thought that counts eh

Bollocks to charity - every mother fucker at work is doing a run for this or a sponsered kiss a dog for that or a wear pink for the other.

My charity stays at home or where I get some reward out of it by volunteering or learning a new skill - it does not involve parting with my hard earned.

If i won mega millions i would not give a penny to charity, but i would buy stuff for hospitles and tons of food and bedding for the RSPCA and sponser the air ambulance ect, the reason why i would not give money is becuse i want to help children and animals, i dont want to buy the fat arse big wing in the office a new BMW

I give to charity as and when I want to,I will normally sponsor people at work if its a good cause as well.

What I cant stand is the people who come and knock on your door asking you to sign up and give out your details. They have a habit of turning up just as ive got the kids to bed as well, they have no chance of getting money - if I want to donate then I will go to them.

Cheers Ross.
