Too many posts.. I need a life!!
if you launch the car at all get a twin plate thats what mines got and its not too harsh/jerky, if not a standard exedy clutch would do. My clutch has started to behave strangely aswell, worried lol

he's to gay to launch it
decent exedy 1 should be ok,
thats what i put in her jap crap and its been fine even with a few proper launches
be needin a gearbox before another clutch,
you know anybody that runs a clutch centre that could fit it?

Mines got a HKS twin plate in it, It's quite light but far more fierce than any paddle clutch i've ever had. Not cheap though at Ł1400 fitted with gear oil!

Standard Evo clutches are VERY borderline in terms of power handling. As soon as you start driving them with any 'spirit', it'll be knackered in no time. Additionally, the flywheels are VERY thin, so the chances of changing the clutch and not needing a new flywheel are very slim (they are too thin to safely skim really). So, it's a risky business fitting an Evo with a standard clutch IMO, you could spend 3/4 of the money you'd spend on a twin-plate and it might only last a few months.
I know somewhere that does the Exedy Hyper Twin (the best on the market) for Ł980 delivered or Ł1200 fitted, but I'm not allowed to say who it is. LOL. They can easily be found by having a quick look on the Lancer Register.

its got a carbon(i think) clutch in it just now, but he dont like it from cold,
feels like it slips until it heats up, it dont realy get driven hard so dont think it needs a twin plate set up realy

Exedy Hyper Twins are excellent as well. I used one in a 500+ track car not so long ago and it's lapped up the abuse

I'd either fit the larger flywheel and clutch setup from the later Evo's (VII onwards) or fit an Exedy Hyper twin plate, they're pricey but they do last a lot longer than an uprated organic clutch such as the single plate Exedy.
I had 2 single plate Exedy organic clutches fitted to my 365bhp 345lbft Evo V and the first lasted 1500 miles, the second one I drove a lot more carefully (no slipping clutch or launching) and that lasted 8500 miles, I then upgraded to an Exedy Hyper twin plate and broke the car 1000 miles later.

Is it RSE Motorsport in Wales by any chance? They were the best priced clutch supplier when I bought mine.

As mentioned above, later (larger) standard clutch from 7 8 9 or Exedy Organic are fine up to 400 ish bhp without launching. I know of one lad on 467bhp on a stock Evo 9 clutch.
Get a twin plate if hard use is the plan, or if more power is on the cards. Cheapest place for Exedy twins (my preferred choice) is APT, they advertise on the MLR. One of the owner's had a very fast 1.6 CVH RST and posts on here quite a lot
Finally, if you have a carbon clutch then they often "slip". Normally when cold, the plates simply need warming before they then will bite hard. Can be disconcerting when you first stamp on the gas, but by all accounts quite normal.

whats the opinion of the OS Giken twin plate? I think mine needs replacing and was gonna go with one of those repair kits which seems a cheap option.
