Default remap at awesome gti, yeah or nay?

in a nutshell, just bought a bora 1.9tdi 130, want a bit more go, so did a look at local tuners and awesome gti can do a remap for around £200 to up it to 170bhp ish.
loads offer similar tuning potential and more, but are awesome as the name suggests?
anything around 160-180bhp is more than enough for the daily tractor.

cheers
sean

Had mine done at MSD some years ago, excellent job they did too. Still hasn't missed a beat 6 years and 80,000 miles later. Would definatley recommend them.

i did a search for msd for prices (£359), but need to call them really and can't do that till tomorrow.
quite literally down the road for me too, might give them a buzz in the morning.
MSD have no rollers IIRC though to back anything up, i know awesome have rollers.

i think if Stu & Kenny get their paws on it,,, you won't need rollers to tell you it a chunk quicker

i know what you mean about not needing rollers, when i turned the boost up on my xr2 i knew it was quicker, but i'd like to see where it is quicker on a graph, you can miss so much if you don't have a record of the potentials IMO.

numbers are just pub figures tbh i d be more concerned about how it drove on the road.... as thats where it counts any roller figures can be frigged ormanipulated. where as on the road it cannot pretend to be powerful if its not.

I can vouch for an evolution chips remap. My 130 Bora recently made 181bhp and 330lbft! Cannot fault the way it drives, so addictive

I wouldn't worry too much about rolling road figures. The last dyno figures I saw come out of Awesome GTI were a bit optimistic. Standard 1.8 115PS Escorts showing over 120bhp with just an air filter

Just having an off day then?

I think there was a report of the day printed in a mag actually. Does this mean that fitting a cone filter to a 1.8 Escort gives a 10bhp gain?

i'm giving msd and awesome a call in the morning and getting it a christmas present.
not so bothered about figures, but nice to know where it's at so i can choose a better clutch at a later date.
i've got the mk2 fiesta for higher power after winter if that's my want on the day.

Think i read somewhere that Awesome is now using Revo software, these have been remapping for years and offer discount if you ever go stage 2 etc i am led to believe.

just to update on this, i went to awesome and got it remapped.
found a couple of fault codes linked to battery coming to end of its life, remap completed and what a change!
really moves now, thought clutch was slipping in third and in fourth a little, instead its just the tyres breaking traction.
loving it now, and Awesome were true to their name, straight forwards, no bullshit, didn't even try to sell anything to me to make extra cash.
great service all round abd £199.99 all in was a good deal and well worth it IMO.

He's already had it done at Awesome now mate so you can stop the sales patter, lol

Glad to hear it worked out ok, 200 quid is a good price for a diesel turbo remap IMHO

I have a 115pd and it's supposed to be chipped to 130 but i thought they normally gave more than 15bhp gain - i don't know what spec the chip is or who's but i have been put off tuning it as i have a slight cam rattle around 1700-2100 rpm when it comes on boost has anyone experienced this before - engine is on 128k

some of the lower spec tdi's don't put out as much power after chipping/remap due to parts used in the engine/turbo.
my 130 should be between 170 and 175bhp now and does feel far quicker than it was with bags more torque.
i did specifically look for a 130 spec to begin with though for this very reason and worth every penny.

A 115pd will remap to about 145-148bhp and about 240-245lb/ft
Not sure on the problem though

I have tried finding out and it may sound like the follower as they were a poor design from std and were redesigned for the 115 onwards so it could be something to look at - i think they do a complete cam kit for a reasonable price

might be a stupid question but,
i've got 2001 golf gttdi 130
i've been told by the previous keeper that it had been remapped,
i'm not 100% convinced, as there was a other things said that i know aren't true,
so is there any way to tell if its been done?
rev limit moved? any obvious factors that i would know to check,
i was planing on gettin it done when i bought it, but only after i mentioned it did the seller mention it was already done,
i hadn't bought it at the time so dont know if he was just trying to talk me into it,
it is quick enough for a oil burner and very torquey but a little more wouldn't hurt

Quick Reply: remap at awesome gti, yeah or nay?
