Its to make it safer for the kids you tool! A kid was mowed down at my local Morrison's, the parents couldn't park in the parent and child area as it was full of fanny's who didn't have kids! The parent and child bays are there to prevent this happening!
If they had parked in one of those bays near the shop, it could have prevented this from happening!
Young kids run off on their own, you cant just teach them road safety in a dangerous car park!

I can't belive how there are retards that even when they know the perfectly sensible and legitimate reasons for these spaces will try and argue they are not a good idea...
Grow up.

In my local the road that cars travel down is in between the mother and kid section and the actual supermarket so its neither here or there. Plus i am my mothers son and if you read the sign theres no actual age limit LOL

If no one is using them then why not
How do you know who is going to turn up while you're shopping?
just "out of principle" ?
where theres little room between cars front and side,
There is a standard amount of room, that is fine for you when you go to a carpark that doesn't have P&T spaces, and has been that way for years.
or you come to your car with a trolley full of shopping and cant put it in the boot because the dickhead behind you has parked his car so close you cant fit your finger between his bumper and your back bumper, then what do Asda expect ?
Drive in?
Walk up the side with your shopping?
Drop the car forward a few inches?
Come on, crappy argument sorry...
What is it I haven't read?

Walking up the side isnt going to help when you cant open the boot is it ?
What you didnt read is me going on about an empty carpark...instead you jumped on wankchops bandwagon... loser.

plenty of places now stipulate that the parent/toddler spaces are for those with kids under the age of 5 and anyone else parking there will get ticketed so carry on ![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
i've parked there with the van and people always give me funny looks, until i get out with one of the kids, i've even had a ticket and have then gone to the store manager (assistant) to give them grief about it and then they say "there was no child seat" before i say "but you don't need to for kids over 4 for times when you can't get one, seeing as both seats are in my mrs car and she's taken it and i've come to your store to get some essentials, otherwise why would i want to rick my kid by driving with no seat in the vehicle, shall i call the paper?" and then she got all apologetic and shit

I could be wrong, but the empty carpark sounds like you are trying to justify yourself.
Where do you draw the line? Completely empty? A few spaces empty? The correct thing to do ( "out of principle"

I remember when I was kid and my parents had to park in normal spaces away from the doors of the shop and we had to walk 50 feet, This really did ruin my childhood and it left me scarred for life , only if there had been child and parent spaces back then how my life would be so much better now

I think ya should just get some of them really sticky stickers made up with RETARD wrote on them
So you can imagine how pissed off I was that some spineless twat had scrawled a note and stuck it onto our windscreen saying that as we are clearly not disabled we should not use a disabled space!
WTF, you don't have to be physically disabled to have a blue badge you sad mother fucker! Of course the sad cunt was no where to be seen, by my blood was boiling, so it was just as well there was no confrontation.
I'm sure they felt all nice and smug with themselves, but its not all black and white!

Love threads like this, just highlights who the retards are
... If you can't understand why the spaces exist, then you really are fucking thick
I don't have any children, and i'm not disabled, but any fool can see that struggling with a baby/ small child/ wheel chair/ zimmer frame etc in a standard space is bad for everyone, it makes the job 10x harder and is likely to result in damage to both cars parked next to each other. Why not have a few spaces with wider gaps for people who need it?
It means that your car does not get damaged by somone banging doors/ pushchairs / wheelchairs into your car, and it makes life easier for the person using the space. Is it REALLY that much of a big deal walking 50 yards further?

No it doesnt, theres never enough spaces for kids anyway, thats like saying anyone who isnt disabled or has children has to park in halfords 2 miles down the hill.... i bet 99% of people on here would break the rules then.
If i really want to be pedantic we could argue that matey in his 380hp cossie that does more than 70mph on the roads is endangering all these familys with kids in their cars that share the roads.
Maybe we should close all the inside lanes on dual carriagways and motorways and make them family and disabled lanes only ? You really see yourself abiding by that law....thought not.
FWIW i dont personally use disabled bays ever, but i do use parent parking, and i dont care.

Your other comments are just daft. It's all about what's practical - having some p&t spaces reduces risks. Having all spaces like that is not going to be practical. Its a compromise.
I'm not even going to reply about the inside lane

When I'm in my impreza I always get dirty looks when I pull up in parent and baby spaces from the frumpy fat cows in their zafiras, it's odd but I guess they expect me not to have a kid in a car like that. Usually wipes the glare off them when I open the rear door and get my son out.

I have an Escort Cos, so I feel your pain
, hence why I always park miles away from the door in seconds, so all the lazy fat fucks can spend 10 mins fighting for a space within easy waddling distance of the doors

wider spaces means more space overall, so less spaces in a given area, so they are that size to squeeze more cars in, and therefore more punters
the irony is that cars are getting bigger and bigger so they are getting wider and wider and soon the marked spaces will be too small

I must admit i have occasionally parked it the parent/child bay but only late on when the carpark is empty, i wouldnt dream of parking in a disabled bay ever. What makes my piss boil is the fuckers who have a legit disabled badge and you see them stroll out with 4 bags in each hand then load the car and drive off.

I think its bollocks anyway, mother and baby / disabled spaces in the car park outside a hypermarket or shopping centre. They're going to be walking/wheeling up and down the aisles for about 3 miles, wo why the fuck does it matter about having a reserved space 10 yards closer to the door?
