This year the Osram Nightbreaker, when the Philips Extreme first came out they were tops, I had these my dad had nightbreaker, but Osram nightbreaker had a much more white light almost HID in looks colour, was awsome, found about 1 -1 1/2 years use is all you get, after driving my dads car with his original 3 year old night breakers in it they are a lot better than the current extreme by a long way.
One thing I do all the time though is to run new relays and wire to each headlight, 2 relays in each one for dip and one for main beam, that way you will if there is a fuse blow only lose 1 dip not both this makes difference in itself over 20 year old wiring, then add the bulbs you want, then add a permanent dip wire, take a wire direct from the output of the main light switch(headlight position) to the dip wire so dip stays on even on main beam, perfectly safe(with relays) perfectly legal as well.
You can see the same effect by briefly pulling back the flash with headlights on so both beams are on.
When I first used the original extreme I went from 130/90 to extreme, and the extreme were brighter, but I've just bought a set of nightbreaker for my cos, the astra I used the extreme in had HID fitted afterwards but the extreme were better in it, much better beam, not as much light but it was where you needed it.
