Default should i weld diff on escort van ?

hello, i REALLY kneed to get out on saturday morning, bits its snowing and i live up a private road with 2 tight corners and 2 hills. i have taken the almost bald tyres off the van and replaced with good ones, but should i take out the diff and weld it up tomorrow ? then replace it with a unwelded one when the snow goes away.

It seems the only logical solution left to you TBH.

welded diff on a fwd?wouldnt recommend it really, deflate the tyres a fair bit for traction,go out on foot before hand with a load of salt and grit (do they have grit bins where you live, they do in some remote areas.)and use the highest gear you can to prevent wheelspin, light throttle apllications are what you need,do everything softly and brake well ahead of normal points

oh,another useful tip from the old school, take a doormat or sack with you,if you get stuck put it in front of the driven (in this case front) wheels and use it for traction
