alex and baz ,both of you take the invoice that alex paid and the gearbox back to barra and deal with them face to face with all the evidence and demand the box rebuilt under warrenty.
sounds very much like barra boxes are not the way forward

i have had the same experience with bara i bought a box from a friends car who bought it brand new from them for a s1 rs turbo meant to be an upgraded version of the useless cts 2+ at a cost of Ł2100 or Ł2300 ill have to dig out the receipt assured it will run 350bhp comfortably and will take 400bhp.

Fitted into my car selector problem couldnt find reverse didnt want to know an unused box so had it done locally at Ł400 so i could reverse it at central day.
The cars not running alot of boost and not setup properly so wasnt driven hard about 5miles away from santa pod slipped out of 3rd gear and shred the rest of the gears with it could only find 1st and 2nd gear and the box didnt even probably take 250bhp and 200miles so money well spent initially on buying it and wasting 400 to have selector problem sorted to find reverse as i had to push it at central day

Mate of mine was getting work done by him as recently as a few weeks ago, so is that a very recent change?
Or maybe he now just does bits and pieces for people he already knows?

No he has not, although he should have.
He would be able to sort the gearbox as long as the parts are available, that is that Barra would be willing to sell their parts (the non Ford parts) to someone else fixing one of their gearboxes.
I will see what he thinks.

You are right, he has more work than he can cope with so he tends to just do work for people he knows.
I asked about the Barra box and it can be done although I was warned that any non-Ford parts needed are quite expensive as it is not a mass produced gear kit/parts.
