Does anyone know.....

If money transfer from Lloyds to Halifax over net will allow me to get money out of Halifax straight away, or can this only be done if money is handed in over the counter at a Halifax branch?

you would need to do it over the counter mate

online transfer takes 3-4 days

Yep as above unless with the same bank and transferring it between different accounts in which case it is over night normally.
