Default 2005 Mondeo TDCi cam carrier DOHC 115bhp

Hi my first post. This car has done 75k miles and the front cam shaft carrier brackets that retain the cam shaft have all spontaneously cracked uniformly. Car driven for 50 miles, parked and briefly reparked. On returning 3 hours later it wouldn't start.

So .. a few questions:

1. Can the cam carrier be replaced without the head also? if so....

2. What's the risk of the valves having been damaged? DER!!!

3. Where can I get a recon/used complete head with cam carrier?

Any remarks, observations, help would be gratefully received to avoid being ripped off...thanks

im sure the cam carriers are cast when the head is made hence matched perfectly and doubt you could get the carriers seperately

& also i don't think the head is excessivly priced from ford, about £300 iirc.
