a mate of mine has recently sold his Spraybake booth and gone back to his old non-heated booth, reason being that as he only uses water-based paint it didnt need to be baked. He just uses infra-red lamps. Much cheaper to run than a full-on gas-heated booth.

We used to use a spaceheater in ours,it was fucking boiling in there!!!only trouble was it would dry quicker in certain areas than others due to it's sighting.

I'd stick to the big infra red heaters myself, but then they'd be a proper pain in the arse if you had to actually spray with them on as they'd throw the colour out like fuck,it would be really awkward to see any differences in shade.

I'd say,gas to paint with then put the infra reds on to bake it,the laquer would flash off fine with the gas but it would be nice to bake on an hour or so under the lamp, cost would be your main issue,I even found the gas pricey.

You could go diesel and run it on red,I did for a bit and it was fine, just wasn't my heater!!!

You'd,IMO have to put all the infra reds on one switch as it would be dodgy to try and switch them all on and off could easily cause you to come into contact with the car thus spoiling the fresh paintwork.

Avoid waterbased for big jobs,it costs a fortune and takes forever to dry although it's great if your on older paint or dodgy looking stuff like previously aerosoled stuff as that reacts like fuck with solvent.
