An air to air injector is like a normal injector but it doesn't need the fuel flowing through it to keep it cool and prevent it from sticking.
They are used to control boost pressure as they are a very fast acting solenoid valve and precise boost levels can be attained.
They work by pulsing air pressure to the actuator. One side of the injector has a pressurised manifold when the turbo comes on boost. The other side of the injector has a pipe to the actuator and the injector pulses the air down this pipe to move the actuator. and reduce/increase the boost. Once the throttle is closed, there is a bleed hole on the side to allow any air pressure that has built up on the actuator side of the injector to escape other wise your waste gate would be stuck wide open the next time you try to come on boost.

20K+ Super Poster.
And if the come from MSD they are NOT air injectors, they are in fact CNG injectors working with air, that said there doesn't appear to be any problems, mind you there was perfect boos control before this latest air injector gimmick came along!!
