Default TRIP IN THE PAST, what was you fave car feature?

with the passing of max power made me think about cars BEFORE the internet

what was the fave cars that inspired you ect

i have 6 cars i loved i can think of

first was a feature of rentons mums car,,, well sort of he bought it off her and turboed it it was a ford orion and apart from the illision bumpers it was everything i wanted in a car

second was another ford orion, was a 1.6i ghia in grey with morettes blended into the wings and a cossie rear spoiler, i loved it so much that i actually bought a grey orion 1.6i ghia and had BIG plans for it,,,,, that never happened pmsl

3rd was a feature on a ltd edition blue escort cabrio and his missus pink cabrio, blue one was specced for 250bhp and had a proper chrome engine bay

4th was the same car i belive but then was converted to take cossie 4x4 engine and running gear, think the bloles name was mervyn or something like that

5th was a xr4i painted in green with a saph cossie front end on it, just make the car look AOT better IMO

and 6th was a candy apple red escort 3door estate with a Ferarri style bodykit and looked mean in the photos,,,,, but only had a 1,3 engine. that was in fast car and it was actually what got me into learning about cars and the first car mag i ever bought too

i wonder what happened to these cars as this was BEFORE the internet and you had to spend money on a mag to read about ideas and it was alot harder back then aswell to be DIY cause these days you can upload a pic and get a reply within the hour from people who know,,,,,, back then you had to rely on either a haynes manual OR take it to a garage to get the work done and get ripped off

anyway anyone else have these memorys before we was all geeks

Can't remember the full feature, but there was two guys, each had a Sierra Sapphire that had been converted to RWD and given V8 power. Its what got me interested in saloons and mucking about with V8's.

Was the 1st ever Max Power I bought!

Remember the Revs feature with some Sierra/RS500's, couple of moonstone and a white one. One of the moonstone's had Gold RL7's, that was a gorgeous car.

Also remember the 205 with the dimma kit and cosworth conversion, even the Black Renault 5 with the same conversion.

Was either fastford of PF back in 97/98 and there was a Series 1 with twin charge carrier's going over the cam cover, does anyone remember that car?

Project 2000 is probably the most memorable for me. Really started to get me interested in Fords, and was really wild back then.

Now I've seen it in the flesh and been in it, I love it even more!

For me, theres loads of features that I loved.

I think the build threads were the best, MP's Reiger Corrado, Project Thunder etc

What about the Nova group thrash? edit>>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZh7pIHuXAA

I used to religiously buy Max Power, Fast Car, Revs and Redline

Loved the Golf VR12

There was also a MR2 turbo in either the states or Japan which was pushing approx 700bhp, it was red had a stripped out interior with the boost pipes going through the cabin from the front of the car to the engine. That was pretty epic!

I drove that Renault 5 up to Donny one year as the owner worked off shore. It was mentally fast! Car caught fire a month later and burnt to the ground.

Anyone remember a yellow Saph Cossie on the front of Revs. Proper ahead of its time with a carbon dash and trim. Drove that to Donny too and nearly killed myself chasing a Skyline R32 up the A1 in the pouring rain!!

Yeah it did! Had a pair of Recaros in the back too. Don't remember the 3i, but I've probably blanked it from my memory!

Once did a feature on a Clio with a 'full' Prima Racing engine. Was meant to have loads of internal work and cost the guy a fortune. A while after he needed a new headgasket and they discovered that the head had never actually been off the car, and that other than a set of TBs it was virtually standard!!!!!

Edit: Just had a nosey at their website and found this in their legal blurb...

"18. FORCE MAJEURE In the event of a war, invasion, act of foreign hostilities, whether war has been declared or not, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection or military or usurped power, the seller shall be relieved of liabilities incurred by any government department, council or other duly constituted authority or from strikes, lockouts, breakdowns or plant or any other causes (whether or not of a like nature) beyond the Company's control."

WTF!

Nah mate, but a friend of mine had his Renault 5 Turbo in it. Used to be all gold with a big kit on it, but later painted two tone silver and gold. Not got any pics though Was a pretty wild car back in 2000

Hmm..

My favourtie ever Max Flower feature car was a white 3 door on Momo Arrows. The shoot was in the snow! I remember the bloke had a wee sticker on his drivers window that said

'Yes Officer, this is my car....'

I fucking loved the way that 3 door looked!

My favourite ever feature car from any mag was an Alan Mann twincam Mk1 Escort, in red/gold. Was in Fast Ford, the first magazine I ever bought in a train station in Norwich of all places!

I still have that Magazine somewhere, probably in my Mum's loft or something. Someday I will go dig it out!

I remember a pretty special tricked up f40 that was in a max power, must have been around 93/94?

Anyone remember project XS, BMW with wide kit? I saw it parked up in Camden, that must have been 94 too.

But my favourite feature was in revs (iirc) and it was a test between an escort cossie, gtir, impreza & integrale. It was a really exciting time for me as I knew I was going to get hold of a gtir and they were bigging them up so much I was creaming my pants lol

Quick Reply: TRIP IN THE PAST, what was you fave car feature?
