Default air intake pipe on a capri ques

i keep having to re attach the air pipe on top of the airbox when starting it it goes bang n wont start till i re do the juberlee clip up

is there any reason it should keep doing it apart from it being worn n needing replaicing

Some sort of backfire is pressurising the intake system and blowing the weakest link, ie air pipe on top of airbox, off to relase the pressure.
I would be checking your ignition timing firstly.

The engine will not run with the pipe off because it it needed to raise the plate on the metering head and therefore allow fuel to flow to the injectors. (in very basic terms)

As above but also check your compression in case you have a burnt/buggered/bent inlet valve.

sounds like either cam timing is out or valve not closing cant c any other way it would pressurise inlet

ive just had fast race cams fitted , but it did it a few times b4
shes running better than she has for a long time
