Default buying 2nd hand rims - 22's

OK not for my Ford, but thought this the best place to ask, am off to view some alloys with tyres tomorrow, other than looking for scratches and cracks, whats the best way to check they're ok before parting with my cash?
should i ask to get them balanced somewhere first? any other things to check for?

cheers in advance

If I was going to look at 22s then I'd take some watered down Fairy liquid, make sure there is air in the tyres and coat the tyres in the fairy liquid... leave for a few mins and there should be small bubbles which are visible from any cracks or punctures, cause 22s aren't going to be cheap to replace.

Cheers,
Grant

cheers mate

What about checking for buckles/bends etc? Will simply rolling them along the path be enough to check for damage that may cause vibration once fitted, or should i request to get them balanced?

You won't be able to tell by eye.

If they're 'cheap' alloys in that size then they're very prone to buckling. I'd be very wary personally.

Also whats the tyres like? As they start at £120 for budgets 285/35/22, so around £500 if you need new tyres ( £750ish if you want branded tyres )

They harshen the ride a fare bit too!

Look good tho
