I thought my car was on a L8 ECU as it has a 4x4 engine. At the weekend I checked it and it has a p8 ECU. What did the p8 come standard in ?

Thanks. I'm finding more out about the car all the time. Is there any way of telling if the engine is out of a late 4x4 or big turbo escos ?

I have just got the car and told it was standard.

The car is a E36 bmw with a cosworth engine

I think the car was running more power and the clutch started to slip so the boost was turned down and sold car.

p8 ECU inside turbosystems chip and says stage 2
green injectors
bailey breather not connected
3 bar map sensor
4x4 intercooler

what block does it have? have a look on the exhaust side and i expect it will say 205 or 200

200 block are better than 205 blocks

200 blocks were in the main fitted to all 4x4 sapphires & escorts cosworths.
you can also hazard a guess which head you have; how many bolts are in the stat housing?

looks like a 4x4 saph going by the turbo

The late saph 4x4 engines are near enough identical to big turbo escos ones, yours looks to be a saph engine as it has a T3 turbo, 4x4 saph fuel pressure reg and cambelt cover, either way they are both good engines.
