Default mondeo tddi clutch

i have a problem with my clutch, or at least i think so......went out yesterday to find it wouldnt go into gear when started up? but if i turn the car off it will go into gear no problems?? but when starting with clutch in the car trys to jump when starting, the clutch feels fine to press, its 51 tddi... i did have a pipe off that was leaking fluid when i bought it (2 weeks ago), it comes from around the brake fluid area then comes across to drivers side before entering car, this was loose and fluid was leaking, all tightened up now, could this be related?? air in system etc, im hoping its nowt major as ive only just bought it!! any ideas please folks!!!

i'd check the simple things first.

does it have a hydraulic clutch? if so it might need bleeding a little. also worth checking the condition of the fluid in the reservoir as it uses the brake fluid. if its old and dark, change the whole lot.

also worth checking the box oil. perhaps even drain and replace it.

also the colder weather makes it dificult to select gear when cold and needs a min to warm up.

no your not wrong mate, i'm the one in shock!!!

thats a really good price considering my mums focus 1.8 tdci cost £1000 at ford to have the clutch and dmf done...luckily that was a warrenty job though at ford you'd expect it to be a rip off!

regarding them not having dmf, i got this info off net that says otherwise...From memory he said the TDCI dmf has 58 teeth and the TDDI dmf has 34 teeth. (this may not be spot on re the numbers - so that surelys means they DO have dmf.......doesnt it??!!!

another little problem is since getting it back there feels to be what i can only describe as a rumble when fully depressing clutch, no noise just feel it, and only does it when changing up the gears and not down....could it be cos its a new clutch???

The point of a DMF is to make everything smoother, so you shouldn't feel anything. Sounds like he just doesn't want to take it out again.
