Default RS1800 Engine

Does anyone know where I could get a hold of an engine to fit a fiesta RS1800? Blew mine this morning Anyone know how much it should cost, the guy at the garage said it would be at least 400 quid which sounds reasonable.

If the chances of getting an RS1800 engine are slim then is there any other engines I could fit into it?

Your help is appreciated lads.

An engine from a mandildo will fit, just swap all the ancillaries over from the 1800, you will get a 2 litre for about 150 quid, the 1800 mondeo engine is only 115bhp and not 130 like yours, you will need your camshafts and your inlet manifold to make it 130 bhp

I thought it was just the head gasket but the guy said he thinks its more than that, he reckons it needs a new engine, he said he could do the head gasket but theres no guarantees.

lots, if its badly overheated the rings will have softened, making the car have no compression and very heavy on the breather, not to mention being smokey. The head will probably be warped, and so will the block, if you skim the head it will be flat, but now the cams are running in a twisted head . I would just put a nice new fresh engine in if it was cooked, they are never the same again.
Of course the big question is why was it loosing water in the first place? is the rad or coolant pipes fucked? does the cooling fan work? is the heater matrix leaking? all these issues need addressing, or the next engine will end up in the same state.

My mate just informed me he has an engine out of a 1.8 XR2i, he says all that would need to be changed was the inlet manifold and a couple other bits? Is this info correct?

it wont have an under piston spray bar, it has 4 individual spray jets but only certain 1800 blocks are drilled for these...mostly rs1800 ones but i have came accross the odd xr2i 16v with the drillings but blanking jets in place of the squirting ones...tbh prob wont make a lot of difference unless your tracking it or high revs/power

IIRC some of the Mk5 XR3i's had a 130 bhp Zetec engine which if not identical to the RS1800 isn't much different so is a possible source for an engine.

Same engine, but quite rare compared with other zetecs.

Doesnt make any odds on a 130bhp NA motor, would only be of use on a turbo motor
