50 50 I'd say I was a idiot before I got it, still a idiot so not much has changed,
But come on you have 'modded' cars so you ain't that bright or you would have a ferrari or lambo or something so just cos your in a midlife crisis you feel the need to build a nova, some one who is cleverer than me and you has a expensive car not a base model made in to something it's not,
I'm using a I phone which makes it hard to do anything so please excuse my little mistakes

Cant see why you had to quote me and chip but respond to just me? I've also got a missus, although where you put "manage to get your end away now and then" makes me think its forced and you dont enjoy it or she really doesnt do it for you hence the "manage". Which one is it?

Indeed it is, Ive little interesting in typos though TBH mate so dont bother to proof read what I write in that level of detail.
I just make sure its easy to read, and not full of txt spk etc and thats fine for me.
As for mid life crisis, seems a strange thing to accuse someone in the 20s of having like I was when I got my nova, sounds more like something someone in their 40s would have, which Ive not reached yet, im only 35.
I'd like a ferrari F430 but cant afford to buy or run one, so thats the only reason I havent got one, just the fact I havent done well in enough financially to be able to do so. I do like them very much though.

But TBH I actually prefer building cars myself to just buying them, as I actually enjoy the process of building and learning as I am doing so, so even though a 911 is undoubtable a better car in most peoples eyes than say my 3 door and nova combined, I dont regret not buying one with the money I have spent on my cars which would cover the cost of one easily.
I spend far longer in the garage working on my cars than I do at trackdays using them etc, so I'd lose that side of my hobby if I just went and bought a 911 or F430 where all the hardwork has been done for me.
If you found my reply hard to read, you probably need to just practice reading more often, there were a couple of typos im sure but nothing that made it hard to read for anyone who is even a reasonably competant reader in the first place.

Depends what you mean by any good on track TBH mate, if you mean is it quick down the straights then yes straightline wise it was very quick on the last engine compared to most things (cant comment on the new engine yet as I havent finished the conversion yet), was about 600bhp escos kind of pace basically.
If you mean does it handle well, then its hard to know what to compare it to, as going by the layout the natural thing to compare it to would be something like an elise, which obviouly it falls far short of as its much heavier, higher centre of gravity etc, it does handle in a way thats very good fun though.
Its certainly not the fastest way around a racetrack for the money, my clio im building will be faster round combe im sure and cost far less.
For what I want it for though, which is a combination of being fun on a b road, and being fun on a track, its great in that respect.
Here's the only video of it on track that I have, although its not really representative of the amount of rear end grip it has normally has, as in this video it was after I had damaged one of my trackday rear tyres so it was just on 195 rainsport road tyres which obviously fall way short of the 225 888s I would typically be one at the back.

Ive also improved the rear suspension design since then to eliminate the bump steer that you can see introduced on the rear end as im going round gerrards for example.

Looks like a right handfull.
Really what i meant was how dose it handle compared to the original Engine in the front ..... I mean the standard gtes and stuff we half bad you know. I can understand its in abit of a diffrent legue becuase of the extra power

15K+ Super Poster!!
lol @ chip
I loved my little Mk2 XR2, and my XR2i, and XR3i... and XR3i Cabriolet
Does explain a few things about me however
Although, do remember, the Australians dont have RS's or ST's, they are all XR's And some very nice XR's they have too!
But then again... it does explain a lot about the Aussies too

just read through the thread :L its pretty funny actually. i cant say ive noticed the 'xr dumbness'
but most of the people i know who have mk3 xr2's and 3's 90% of the time cant afford FRST's or ERST's
they are like porsche boxters, people only buy them who cant afford 911's
but that said, they do have a big sentimental value as even today i know people aged 17-19 who have xr2's and 3's and spend many evenings just hooning about in them having a laugh. i bet most people on this forum have had experience of an xr3 when they were younger, and i can see why people would want to buy one.
i cant talk though as i dont even have the xr :') my fiesta started life as a 1.1L and slowly, with engines, body kits and brakes im turning it into an xr2 :') would have been cheaper if id just bought a rotten xr2 and swapped all the bits
