Default copying progs of sky+ box?

Is it possible to copy stuff off my sky+ box onto my laptop?
I've got loads of bike racing and decent films on there that i still watch and the missus is nagging me to delete them so she can record more 'next top model' shite.
Any ideas?

Don't think you can copy them off your sky box straight to your laptop. Sky have some sort of trick encryption to prevent it.

However if you have a DVD recorder you can record the programs off sky onto that and then you'd be able to watch them on your laptop.

Copy+ is a powerful freeware program that allows you to backup and transfer your Sky+ and Sky HD hard drives. It has been featured in The Guardian, PCW magazine and What Satellite magazine.

The ONLY product on the market that can do this, Copy+ can also copy between previously incompatible box models AND will work around Sky limitations on maximum hard disk sizes. Now you can take your box to 1TB!

And we are also the home of +Extract, software that rips FTA recordings from a Sky hard disk!

Don't forget, best of all, it's all free†, with no nag screens, viruses, spyware, pop-ups or advertising.

“ Very impressed... WELL DONE ”
Copy+ has many uses, including:

Upgrading to a larger hard drive
Upgrading from Sky+ to Sky HD
Making copies if your Sky box is being replaced
Replacing a failing hard drive
Correcting errors on the drive*
Making backup copy of your hard drive*
Defragmenting the drive*
To use Copy+ you will need Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 and to be able to connect your drive(s) internally or with USB 2, FireWire or eSATA attached drive caddies, or any combination.

But before downloading, make sure you read the appropriate sections of this site and are well aware of its limitations and terms of use. If you struggle with it, there's a comprehensive set of instructions available,

also as caftdunt said

1. If you have a seperate DVD recorder, copy the program onto that and then just play the DVD in the laptop.

2. If the laptop has a TV input connect the RF2 out on the Sky+ box to the TV in on the laptop, play the programme on Sky and use some TV capture software on the laptop to record the programme. You might also be able to use a USB TV card.

the sky copy+ thing means you have to remove the hard drive from your machine to connect it to your computer so that your computer reads the hard drive

some sky programs also have copy protection on them so you can't actually record them, all the box office stuff is like that and some of the ppv stuff but iv'e come across other stuff which won't allow you to record it from the sky box onto anything else, something to do with frame rate sampling or the other so your best bet is to record to disc or sky copy the hard drive to a bigger unit

i've got the 1tb box anyway and it's already 46% ful
