Thanks for all the opinions guys A buddy of mine whos a mechanic and got 400bhp out of a calibra reckons they are handy enough to work on. And most parts would be vauxhall. Aparently though head gaskets are hard to come by. Another M8 of mine reckons he has 100k tied up in an escort albiet it has 600brake so where do you go. I was told that chiped ones should be avoided.

I would Like to own a Lotus Carlton... But wouldnt want to pay huge sums a) for it and b) to maintain it....
I was a schoolboy in that era, obviously along with the ECos... used to see one ECos locally when new and TWO Lotus Carltons believe it or not!!! Alwas knew I'd hae an ECos though I'm afraid

When you get old and look back on your life owning a legend like the Lotus Carlton will be alot more memorable than what most see as a boy racer special.
I know Mike R reads Evo so he should have read their review of it compared to its current pears (M5 etc) they still recon'd it had what it took in terms of grunt and handling.

been in my brother - in - law's, - the smile I had afterwards took about a week to fade.

Wheelspin @ 90

100 - 140mph, faster than a normal car 0-40!

As Autocar (I think) at the time wrote - "The Millenium Falcon of saloon cars"

'nuff said.

as for choice........Escos or Carlton.......a bit like chalk & cheese.

Fast chalk vs Fast cheese!
