Default Are people finding they cannot afford the new Focus RS once purchased?

Only I saw one on the motorway MONTHS back and not a single sighting till the last few days.

Yesterday and today I've seen 6 unique ones in various colours in the local area, and one at a local VW garage!

Im thinking people get them, then the current climate as it is, people cant afford the 20MPG etc.

Thoughts?

if you've got the money to pay for it outright then fair play, but sod paying a grand a month for one for 2 years and then STILL having outstanding monies owning on it

They look the nads, period. But standard power is useless if a chipped RST could keep with it to 100+.

A 500bhp remap should sort that tho

Never owned one but get the feeling it is a novelty car, expensive to sun, very garish and after a few months I think I would crave for something a bit more subtle.

I think most are buying them just to say they have had 1, then they realise they cant afford it and it gets traded or sold for something cheaper.

wasn't meaning you matt, knew you didnt buy it for that reason.

im just meaning in general i think a lot of people have been ordering them and buying one just to say "ive had one" or to try and make a profit from them but prices are starting to fall, then when they realise they cant afford to pay for it or run it then it gets sold on, which is a bit shit as it just puts more owners on to a basically new car

Mine is definitly not cheap to run.. but worth every penny IMO. Id say 20 pounds normally lasts me 1 - 2 days. Not the quickest thing on the road, but hopefully my JS400 remap this month should be a bit more fun

thats the reason i'm not buying 1 just now matt as were looking at a new house so the FRS will need to wait until next year

You'll need to show us some pics of the 3dr mate

I love my mk2 focus to bits

I was lucky tho as i bought one a year old with over 7k worth of extras inc, AP"s / s/steel exh / remap to 370bhp / bigger cooler / lowered susp / carbon everything inc interior parts

I dont use it everyday so cant comment on how expensive it is to run but i turned down a lot of proffit on the car so this shows how much i love it

Not many in my area but i have noticed that people don't seem to hang on to them for long. Lovely looking cars though, somebody above mentioned that they were "very garish and after a few months I think I would crave for something a bit more subtle" but i bet 24-25 years ago the 3dr Sierra Cossie was equally garish to some people but i can't remember people trading them in as quick.

Had mine since June 09 and is currently...

I bought it as a second car. Being honest it isnt completely paid off but easily could be.

I think you will find due to the actual cost and running costs that only a small percentage use these as everyday drivers.

Planning on keeping mine for some time...

Due to amount of interest in these Ford built more than originally/initially planned, so in some way you are correct.

If the next generation RS's become of the hybrid variety I personally believe these will hold their value. However I would say that as I have one .

Roll on next spring/summer for me so I will use it

I see shitloads.

Can see one from where I'm sitting, there's a white one that someone who works over the road has got. Saw another white one at the lights in Amblecote the other day. There's at least 4 green ones live by me, and see others on the roads wherever I tend to see far less blue ones than green or white, but still plenty about.

do you think i few years time they will be down at circa 8K ish like the rs mk1s are at the moment.
i doubt that if you can afford to buy a car like this, then you would be to worried about 20mpg opposed to the 35mpg a 1.8 would do.

Best colour and sounds like it has some nice mods mate! I've still yet to have a ride in one, will be asking a friend of mine soon though

Edited to say.. was that the original number from the factory or a private plate?

Alot of people i know who have bought them have sold them because they dont like the revoknuckle tripe.

Also they arent as well made as the competition look at the dash etc then look at the same price S3.

Thats nt a good example dojj, vxrs are generally shite.

Now the megane r26/r26r has a similar kingpin set up and are very highly rated as is the rs. The only tripe is the poster claiming to know loads of folk personally who have sold due to the revoknuckle

Quick Reply: Are people finding they cannot afford the new Focus RS once purchased?
