Best Kent Cam For Escort RS Turbo?
hey guys got spec for most of them and was going to go for the cvh36k but wonder if anyone has the spec for the cvh37k kit? As in what revs it kicks in etc. Changing as do not know what cam in my car just now and dont kick in till around 3500 I want it lower. Also not after a newman as alot of you will say as I cant find one that is hydraulic. Dont like the sound of solid lifters so not interested in anything like that as wont be booting it enough to need them. Thanks for any info.

dont bother mate have a read of the kent cam thread in the rs turbo forum ...
craig's kent cam lasted the running in stage and 10mins on the rollers...
newman phase4 cam with solid lifters and genuine ford springs is the best set up...
power range from 2500rpm-7000rpm and all the big power cars use them

To be fair mine made 199bhp at SCA on the double capacity Pace item at 18psi. Operator did say charge temps were exceptionaly high though. And my brothers Fiesta made 211bhp on one at 20psi.

Fact is, if its still on MFi and has got the Pace double capacity cooler, it's almost certainly not 210bhp, therefore it doesn't really need anything other than a standard cam IMO. I would personally run a Newman cam in it, if you've heard a noisy solid-lifter cam that was so bad it annoyed you, it was set up wrong. You'd not even have known mine was on solids. Once its settled in, at least it has a chance of lasting.
Both Piper and Kent seem to have gone for using really cheap blanks and followers in recent years. I don't even put the chances of it lasting at 50%. You'll regret it IMO.

so the tuner that set my car up has dodgy rollers then? As this is what the print out said and they also set up the solid lifters and are very good at it by what ive heard? Ive heard many people complain about the tappety sound from solid lifters and tbh wish id never changed my original head for this one when I had chance, ive never had a problem with kent cams but as everyone knows there seem to be alot of dodgy ones going around. Im only after some specs as kent is what im after not slated or argued about what power my car does and does not have.
Thanks rs combi for the helpful info

O have a RPM 36 cam in mine which is nearly an identical profile to kent 36 and an improvement on the piper t2 and touch wood been in the car for nearly 2k miles now with no drama and car pulls extremly well higher up the rev range.

Dyno operaters can adjust print outs with substantial differences.
Setting the air temperature lower/higher than it is gives you imaginary bhp etc...
I think some people will just find it hard to believe you have seen 210bhp on MFI with a pace double IC and your engine has lasted more than 5 minutes.
