Me too . Standard exhaust cam is awesome for response on a Cossie with a largish turbo (if you aren't chasing figures) .

Sounds like Doug has my engine (which makes 340+lbft from 3500 to 8000 ) - albeit I have achieved this with an extra 200cc and kept some radical cams to hang on to the power at high rpm . Sod chasing numbers - driveability is where it is at .

One thougth for all... How robust and long will this turbo last compared to an "old" T4.
I suspect the T4 will be like a duracell battery IMO

Mine has been in the car for several years, but it is a Mar-M 247 shafted version, which makes it a bit more durable .

So at what power does the std exhaust cam become a limiting factor?

Rod Tarry's car ran one for 640bhp IIRC

Thats not to say it wasnt already limiting it at that level though, these things tend to be a resistance to making power rather than a limit to making it.

Exactly, you either need a igger turbo blowing more air for longer or a bigger ex cam to hold on to the revs longer..
It all depends where you want your peak power too,in rods case he only needs peak power at the right point of brunters so no need to have peak power at say 8.2k like a track car with low gear ratios..
The std ex cam works really well with around std gear ratios on a road car but is shit in say my race car where i need to rev much higher on lower ratios..
Even on the 549 hp motor the other week its still done its peak by 6.9k iirc so an awesome road car with a really good spread of power..

In second gear the revs rise so quickly on the short 3.9 gearing that the boost follows a slightly different curve anyway and feels very smooth.
3rd onwards its got so much natural grip that when the power does come in, which starts building at 3500rpm it just accelerates hard and doesn't feel like it's pushing the grip limits.

Really nice conversion, wether you change gear at 5k or 7k its straight back on the power in the next gear either way and pulls hard regardless.

Doug is over the moon with it, he wasn't a fan of revving the old engine as hard as you had to in order to make quick progress and now it's faster at 1000rpm less.

Glad you liked it it is just how Doug wanted it,
If we kept the 3076 and used the correct housing he would have been on for 560hp.

It was on V power and we had conservative timing so its nice and safe, It would have made just about the same power on 97octane,
That is at the flywheel.

Hi, Sorry for bringing this old (fantastic) thread back to life. I was wondering on this inlet cam, what profile has it got? It looks like the perfect camshaft for GT30.
I wonder why no one else on the thread have asked this question?

Can I have one, Mark?

I would think Mark would not want to disclose that information.
