Default MD240R turbo dimensions ?

Hi guys,

I want to ask MD240R turbo users for dimensions of there turbochargers ?
I know that exhaust housing is A/R 0.61 and compressor A/R is .70 but can you tell me turbine shaft specs and wheel diameters and compressor wheel big and little diameter too ? I can't believe that 44lbs compressor wheel can flow enought air for 500hp engine, 0.61 a/r exhaust is very very restrictive for more than 400hp too, but ? Can you tell me too is there any other difference between MD240 and MD240R turbo except compressor inlet that is 3" for 240 and 4" for 240R turbocharger ?
I am too interested what type of actuator you use with this turbo to hold 2 bar boost at 7000rpm, my be 0.5 or 0.7 or 1bar with amal valve or air injectors of course ?

Thanks in advance for all answers and sorry for not very good english

greetings
Tony

hello mate.

i use md240r, with 100mm inlet,

i believe its a gt30 comp + wheel, and gt 25 or 28 housin, cant remember specs at mo, will look up later.

mine made on a engine dyno (see sig at bottom) at max torque 31psi, max power at 26psi cos the -34 werent holdin the boost, as dont use amel or airinj's.

cheers danny

Hi Danny,

GT30 turbo has two types compressor wheels, wheel trim 52(50lbs flow) and wheel trim 56(55lbs flow). If wheel is 52 trim, diameters are big-76mm little-55mm, if wheel is 56 trim big diameter is same 76mm but little is 57mm. But in other sites and forums i read that MD240 turbo use 48 trim compressor wheel with 44lbs flow and same big diameter 76mm but little diameter is 53mm. That is the reason to ask for MD240R dimensions, because i can't see other chance to reach 500hp except large flow compressor wheel like 52 or 56 trim. If anyone can write MD240R wheel diameters(trims) for sure i will be really happy

Danny can you tell how you controll the boost ? You say that you don't use amal or air injectors, may be any other type of boost controller or only actuator preload without controll ?

cheers Tony

alrite mate,

on dyno used -34, ahlf hole preload with a bleed jet setup, but as sed b4 werent holdin boost, so now got a 20psi act off turbo dynamics,
that will hold boost, but peeps have had probs with surge, but on my set up no probs, but mite have once i get rid of my 509 ex cam for a more torque k2, in which if i do find it surgin, i have got ford motosport air inj to fit to restrict boost to higher revs.

the only specs i could find is on
http://www.turbodynamics.co.uk/ under 'development' as md240

but i also know the md240r gt30 84 turbo wheel trim, rather than the gt25/8 76 used on the md240
