Default Fumes in car sorry not ford (BMW 525td)

Right the wifes car ,
BMW 525 Turbo Diesel E60 on an 04 plate.
Getting really strong exhaust / fuel fumes into cockpit its been serviced at bmw
and the fumes are still there sometimes mild and other times really quite strong i cant see anything jumping out at me and im getting concerned now as she is carrying the kids in it to and from school etc
Anyone come across this and maybe has a fix ? please .

1 your up the arse of another car and its coming in the air vents
2 your exhaust is leaking some where

just coz bmw serviced it dont mean they cant miss some thing

you might have a small blow at the head to manifold then being sucked in the air vents
as you say your car is derv does it smell like derv

Deffo not exhaust leak mate im a fully trained technician myself with over 20 years in the trade ive checked all the usual stuff etc myself was inquiring if anyone who owns a bmw has come across this them selves , it is more like exhaust fume smell but system is mint and hole free without a shadow of a doubt its got me stumped ! .

Look around the injectors. If there is soot or a black hard wax forming then there is a burnt injector seat and it's leaking past the injector straight out of the combustion chamber.

I also work in a garage mate and come up against this prob last year. I can tell you now its the flexi pipe just below the cat and they split but you cant see the soot or hear it blowing because it only does it when you put your foot down and the flexi opens up. If you strip out the air box and get a light and a mirror look down on the block side of the flexi pipe and you will see the soot there.

I spent to many hours looking for the fault and the only way i seen it was to strip the air box out and you will see it.

Hope this helps and i am 100% sure thats whats wrong with it

Maybe something with the crankcase breather set up?

plus check theres no soot around and under the air box

i just done a 530 d with a broken exhaust manifold

the flange for the turbo had broken off

flexy joint id say just had the same problem on my e46 exhaust was mint,cost Ł80 to have a new flexy welded in,common problem on bmw's.

Exhaust manifold, my mates E60 530D has been back to the dearler 3 times now with the same problem.

Outside chance of a leak from the spill off pipes from the injectors (the small tubes that connect to them) a slow leak on those may drip fuel onto something hot while the vehicle is motion.

Long shot I know, as I'm not even sure if the BMW has them.
