Default 4x4 yb on L6 and vice versa.... issues?

Im currently rebuilding a 4x4 yb for my race car and at the mo I don't have an ecu for it and only the front section(to the 3 multiplugs) of the 4x4 loom,
I know you can run a 4x4 loom/engine on L6 by swopping a couple of wires around on the TPS (did it years ago on my old saph)but what about running a L8 on a 2wd loom? just thinking of buying a 2wd loom then getting an ecu L6 or L8 doesn't really matter to me it's a race car after all, spec will be t34, light blues, std engine.
Only issue I can think of is the 2wd loom may not have the wires for the knock sensor?

As for retro fitting is the back half of the 4x4 loom self contained like the 2wd loom?
Bit out of touch with this after 7 years of having a st escort cos..

cheers,
steve

i run a 2wd loom with l8 on my car,
just need to swap the wires around for the tps,
if you want to run the knock sensor then you'll need to run a couple extra
wires from the ecu to the knock sensor plug, easy enough

There is no reason why you cannot use an L6..It will be fine

Power output is not determined by ECU type or choice as touring cars in the 80's were getting 500+ BHP on the L1 ..lol

You cant run closed loop but as this is for a race car, that probably isnt so important !

cheers simon, pretty much what I was looking for, also what about the rear part of the 4x4 loom is it pretty much the same as a 2wd loom ie seperate?
probably will just look for a 2wd loom and L6 ecu

The looms are fairly the same elctrically but not interchangable between car typeswhen using the existing vehicle looms unless you cut the plugs off and rewire to suit.

The L6 loom is much simpler and easier to add to an existing car as you only have to find homes for 6 to 8 wires depending on what you want.

Be carefull though, these looms are old !

6 to 8 wires?

permanant live
ignition live
earths x however many?
rev counter feed
fuel pump feed
oil pressure switch
coolent temp sensor

what else or is that it?
sounds about the same as when I put the loom in for my 24v conversion
