Default Tarox caliper question

Anyone know the model number for these:

They're quite old.

Just need to know so I can order up some pads and a rebuild kit.

Had a look on here
http://en.tarox.com/products/racing-brake-calipers.html

and they seem most similar to a b320-6, which uses a SP102 pad

Bit of a long shot, but dont suppose anyone has a SP102 pad picture anywhere as I didnt get the old pads with the calipers.

My B 32-6 look almost exactly the same as yours, mine are actually marked on the other side as B 32 with the B to the left of the centre bridge support(pin) and the 32 the other side of the support pin.
On the face you show from yours the inscription is different as mine are marked TAR.OX 6, but clearly it is the same family type.
I have got 15 mile old Ferrodo DS 2500, part number FRP3078H, I can't host piccies but happy to email to you.
The pads are a very common type, but for fitment in the tarox need a pip on each rear face inner most edge grinding off to fit, to make them flat.

You sorted this?

I'm off at the moment but if it doesn't work out, let me know and i'll speak to a contact of mine their to see if he can check, he would probably be able to fax an outline drawing of the pad over. I'm not online much if i can help it this week tho.

The quickest way of telling that your calipers are not in fact B 320-6 is the SP 0102 pad for these(not SP 102) is only 114mm long, where as the B32-6 takes a pad that is 149mm long.
If you look on ebcbrakes.com and download the catalogue you can view the pad numbers,
Tarox SP 0102 for the B 320-6 is ebc DP3003C, the tarox B32-6 SP 0239 is ebc DP4413R.
The B32-6 were oringinally on mercedes sprinter vans pad shape wise.
I will email you the piccies anyway.

Thanks for the pictures of your calipers and the pads Tabetha, much appreciated.

If you get the chance can you measure the distance between the two pad retaining pins, as if those are the same as mine and badboyrs, then we will know that the same pads are very likely to fit.

Neil, looks like Tabetha has sorted me out with everything I need now more or less but thanks very much for the offer mate

Once again Tabetha, thanks very much for taking the time to help me out with this, its very much appreciated.

I measured them a little while ago,
the "slot" that the pads sit in is 149mm X 62.85mm, the pads are 17.85mm thick, the pin to pin distance is 131.8mm +/- about 0.75mm.
Hope this helps, the piccies on the ebc site are very good also.

That helps massively Tabetha, thanks, i'll measure mine at the weekend when im home and if I get the same values then you've totally solved my pad problems for me
If not, you've still give it a good try.

So thanks very much either way

i used these calipers on my cossie, they were fitted as part of the escort cosworth kit, and was the biggest available to fit behind std wheels,

i had to grind the lump off the pad as tabs described.

Im attempting to put together a kit for my nova using them, and they need to fit behind 16" wheels.
Got some 300mm disks and bells I can modify to fit (they are vw 4 stud I need vaux 5 stud so will just bore the centre out and redrill them) lieing around already so was going to have a go with those inititally, but might go a bit bigger later on if thats not up to the job, I reckon i could get a 320mm in there no drama.
No point going straight for the 320 if the 300 will work well enough though as its just more unsprung weight for no real gain if the 300 is good enough for my use.

iirc, the discs they used were 309mm, quite narrow though iirc, like 22mm

Yeah im a little worried the disks I have might be too wide, will have to have a measure up at the weekend now I know the pad depths from tabetha so I can see if there is physically enough room between the two sides of the caliper for pad/disk/pad to fit, think they might be 26mm, so a 22mm would probably be a better option, certainly lose me some more unsprung weight too. Was hoping to use these ones initially just to keep costs down while developing it though as I already have them, then when they need replacing i'll either go bigger and thinner if they arent up to the job, or same diameter and thinner if they are upto the job.

I know my discs are 328mm, I think the suggestion from tarox is 280-330 for these, I did think later of widening them for a thicker disc, easy to do if needed.

I measured all the dimensions like pin distance and pad orrifice area etc and they all correspond exactly to what you have said, so our calipers do appear to be essentially the same other than some minor styling differences.

Ive measured my disks and they are 28mm thick, so annoyingly they arent going to fit into a 62.8mm wide hole with a 18mm pad either side of them as that will be 64mm thick, so I'll probably have a go at getting 1mm skimm off either face of the disks to bring them down to 26mm, or to put a spacer into the calipers to make them wide enough.
Ive stripped one of the calipers right down and it would be very easy to make such a spacer but the only problem in doing so is that Im already going to need a small spacer shim to clear the caliper with the inner face of the spokes on the wheel (they are a 49mm offset wheel) and if I then start spacing the caliper out further its only going to make that situation worse, as every 2mm I space it out by will add 1mm to the outer position.

Its all looking pretty doable though, and I reckon by the time Im finished i'll have a 6 pot setup onto the car for around 400 quid hopefully, which seems like a bargain to me!
