Is that a fact 38 years of marriages says your not right.
My opening line was. 'Have you seen the red sports car outside' reply 'everyone has' well 'youve got 5 minutes to be in it'. You sound very Jealous just except that if you could afford one you would & it would not harm your crumpet pulling ability one little bit .
A supercar makes it easier to net them but its still 'you' that has to land them .

I'm very sorry Rod but things have changed since 'the good old days'. If you used a line like that in a club now you would get laughed at!! Plus I don't drive to clubs as I like to have a drink
Not jealous at all old man, of course I would LOVE to own one but only if I was in a comfortable position financially. I have never been in dept for anything in my life and hopefully never will be (apart from a house). I owned an Escort Coss when I was 22 (I'm now 25) alongside my s2 and track escort. I know that isn't any great achievement but I enjoyed owning it and driving it. I only sold it as I didn't really have the space and couldn't bring myself to sell the s2 as I have had it so long I do still have the money to buy a very nice car but do not feel the need, just to impress the ladies.
Anyway I was mearly pointing out how people were going on about how a supercar automatically makes you god to women, not that they were shit or I wouldn't like to own one

I think if anyone buys a supercar purely to impres the opposite sex, then they are likely to be the type of person that the lambo owner in this thread was "assumed" to be.
As Rod says, having a flashy sports car may have been what first got him and his wife talking, but I'll bet if after the first half hour she had turned out to be shallow and only interested in Rod for the car, they wouldnt be married today.
There are a myriad of reasons people buy sports cars. Lifelong ambitions, performance, investments, etc. Ill bet that "being more attractive to the opposite sex" is fairly low down on the list to be honest. Especially fr those who are married before they buy the car. lol.

On the same token, if Rod didn't have a car at all then surely he could have just relied on his charm and wit to pull his wife

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Most people who would be likely to do this have been burnt now.
Where I live was a prime example with all these wannabe gangsters getting this and that car on finance. Watch them drive around now in a shit piece gives me a smile.
Fact, its harder to get finance now then a couple of years ago.
Fact, far more people are clued up and not so desperate to skint themselves.
Obviously there are a select few who refuse to evolve and learn, but I see less and less of them in decent motors in and around London.

Wow i ignored this thread from the start and have now caught up. There are so many quotes i could reply to but they are old now so probably best left.
However one sticking out is from "cheers luciano" about the reyland escort ending up smashed. What a ridiculous comment that was!
I will have my Ferrari in time and couldn't give a fuck what people think of me. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

However i know exactly what you mean with the above comment, if you had the money, you would just go and buy one, i know i would, then learn to deal with the attention.

I can. Right now, I would rather have an Escort Cosworth. I think a nice example of onoe of those will be a collectors item in time, and is a "classic" piece of motoring history.
