Its illegal to do lie on your cv

U can do it, most places wont check details (except government jobs etc)

and its fine (most people do it) as long as its not a whopper ie-u claim ur a doctor or summit and the nearest u been to a doctors was in the A&E dept when u were a kid

Its ok to lie but when you cannot do the job and know nothing about what you are supposed to be qualified in....... what do you think the employer will do...

IMO don't lie on your CV, you could end up being sacked if they ever found out.

Everyone elaborates on their CV tho, there's no harm 'fluffing' it up a bit, but be very careful when it comes to qualifications etc...

Glossing up a CV is one thing. Outright lies could amount to "obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception"

Very naughty and if prosecuted you can end up in the clink for 5 years or enjoy an unlimited fine

i regularly interview people for jobs, and have to read numerous c.v's, and we always ask to see certificates/proof of qualifications and the like from sucesful candidates, before they get set on. References are checked out fully and its common to trip people up or get them babbling in interviews when you ask probing questions about their previous employment history! be truthful, keep it all very neat and tidy on applications, plenty of relevant info but not waffling!

It depends if your going for a decent job or a pikey one Things like GCSE results dont really mean a whole lot and from my experience they will look mainly at you past employment and your skillbase for the job in hand.

Personally I wouldn't do it though!

I'd say don't lie, don't embellish, don't exaggerate......but that's based on a 3.5 hour interview for my current job, where the MD absolutely grilled me on every single thing I put down on my CV.

@ darren!

dont lie on your CV. its just plain and simple cheating! someone may have taken a long time and/or money to get a qualification and you just gain it by 2 minutes in front of your PC? hardly fair is it?!

Always be brutally honest. That's my employment policy;

Why do you want this job?
Because it looks easy and the money is better than I get now.

Why are you leaving your current job?
My boss is a twat

Why should we give you the job and not someone else?
I know where you live, and I'll torch your car

What first attracted you to a career here?
That bird over there

You get the idea. Good luck.

well two choices

never get the job

or lie a tad on the cv get the job, take the risk, worst can happen is sack few months down the line, a few months min work is better than nothing isnt it

a successfull lier must be able to remember and back up there lies though

if you havent the gift of the gab or feel you may be tied in knots in the interview i wouldnt bother

im so lucky to take after my old man .... i have extrememly strrong people skills and many years sales experiance, confidence is the big key people just love happy confident people
