you just had a hissy fit for some reason

Personally I better response to my original post would have been....

'I havent had any convertibles... but I know I won't like them!
For the same reasons that I haven't tried bumsex with another man!'

It was YOU that lost the humour and missed a fine opportunity!

SENSIBLE QUESTION ALERT!

Are the CSL copy wheels useless? Do you need to have originals?

I thouroughly agree the csl style is a must.

Right now i have a hard on over an imola red M3 with anthracite csl wheels

mine came with replicas, bloke said they were lightest and strongest ones blah blah...

they certainly seem ok. Offset and dish is certainly correct.

I'd have bought genuine as well if buying new... (and slagged the replicas boys )

But to be honest. They are fine so far.

I have a spare rear that he gave me. I could weigh it and see the difference if anyone knows weight of genuine rear.

BBS make Techart wheels as well... and they weigh more than the moon! so just being BBS means nothing.

I suspect they will be very very good though the gen CSL wheels. Or maybe they are as good as the geuine CSL brakes

P.S I think the photos are cool Dave! nowt wrong with those,

You generally have to point the lens at the thing you want a picture of - Unless of course you're also on a topiary forum, and wanted to use the second picture on there as well!

CS Wheels are standard width at the front, and alloy.

genuine CSL are mag/alloy and and inch or 1/2 inch wider at the front.

alot of the boys order 4 rear wheels for a larger dish at the front.

Easy children!!!

First off, it's still a great car to drive. Obvioussly its not as acomplished as the coupe, but on the road, I doubt any of you (bar super-Mike of course ) have the ability to expolit even half of what this car can do.

As for the track, I may do the odd day here and there, but am not in a position to write off a 15k BMW on track, and will likely invest in a PROPER track car when I go racing next year.

Driving for me is just as much about the enjoyment of the whole experience, rather than one aspect.

As for the hairdresser comments:

Its better than the MR2 I used to own and that wasn't even a droptop!
People in glass houses and all that... rather be a hairdresser driving a very fast good looking BMW, than hooning round a supermarket car park in a Ł3k sierra looking like some sort of council estate pikey!

Still, if I wanted to look totally straight, I could get myself a white escort with gold wheels!!!

mate our lass has just come in and said "all bloke's who drive droptop's are either bent or fat old men" nail and head?
And yeah i see what you mean about the rs turbo but that the missus's not mine she breaks it i fix it it's a hoot to drive, but i get more enjoyment fixing it then driving it tbh.

not a fan of droptops really, but a ferrari spider, lambo spider, m3 vert etc are defo man cars, end of. If i was buying a brand new m3 i would have a vert, must be awesome fun on a sunny day with the roof down, if it drives anywhere near as well as the coupe.

Lee,
Please point me in the direction of the hard top versions of the above cars

It is ONLY convertibles that are homo, cars designed to not have a roof in the first place, don't suffer from the terrible scuttle shake that normal cars that have had a roof chop do . Cars with an electric roof are automatically by that very thing .

The Porsche is poo and you couldn't give it to me (unless I was allowed to drive it once and then sell it IMMEDIATELY ), the F50 is just off the scale, and I would even allow you to have sex with me if we got to share it 50/50 (you could have it October to March and I'd have it April to September - deal? ).

E46s are amazing, and the CSL is one of my all time favourite cars (irrespective of budget), so to chop the roof off one offends me greatly .
