Is there nothing you could find more service work orientated? I know I'd find sparking pretty boring.

I definately would like to stick to engineering but wouldn't know where to start. I don't know where the jobs are or who needs engineers.
Any advice would be great.

I would say go for a refrigeration/air conditioning qualification, and also try and get into the bms side of things, a lot of the commissioning side of things is laptop based nowadays.

Nobody has mentioned it so far, but if you take the industrial spark route you won't get anywhere without your COMPEX cert these days.

I've been doing it for over 20 years now, job is constantly evolving. Working all over the country now commissioning control systems, no 2 jobs are ever the same.

I've not long got a job as an Electrical Engineer for Carnival UK. Working all over the world on cruise ships.

Apparently the merchant navy as a whole is crying out for leccies. Most companies will put you through a cadetship, where it is 6 periods, 3 at sea and 3 at college, then you're qualified.

Maersk, BP, Carnival, SSTG, Trinity House, Northern Line, OOCL. Even the RFA or Royal Navy could be a shout.
