1) they don't respect me, the pope this week said we are a third world country simply because people have stopped believing in god. So a country with rampant aids (because johnnies are bad ) and has no healthcare is heaven in the pope's eyes as long as they are religious?

2) what was offensive? Bastard is the term for a child of unmarried parents is it not. See I'm very careful with my words

Also why single me out when others have posted things about jesus being fake etc?

it wasn't the pope, it was one of the popes peeps

and he said it was like a third world country because there were so many non whites at heathrow when he came the last time that particular peep visited the uk

so at least get your facts right before you use them to make your case

What is there to respect about being stupid enough to belong to a religious cult?

It's only a touchy subject if your deluded enough to believe fiction over fact. Nobody's doubting the fact that 'somebody' of the same name existed. Just the fact that his c.v was a bit of a lie.

I think it's a bit wrong for people to complain so vigourously about there being no god and taking the piss out of those who do.

I do agree that there are way to many things that dispute the world according to god (like science) but that doesn't stop this fella being around at the time and peeps listening to his teaching. Just because things have got fucked up along the way doesn't mean that your way of thinking is better than the other persons.

Whenever these sorts of threads always bring up the worst in people at least the believers will be going to hevean with the non elievers going to hell

I was having a nosey late last night, regarding the roseline that was featured in the film Da Vinci Code. I was quite suprised to find out some of the information there as seen here.....

http://www.theroseline.co.uk/

Tons of stuff on there, that you may as well look at instead of me writing it down, but in short,

Roslin in South Edinburgh is determined as to where all the roselines cross, hence the name Roslin. There is an island in Dunvegan Bay, on another Scottish western isle, Skye, is to be found the island Eilean Isa (Island of Jesus),

No. I'm as entitled to my beliefs as you are to yours. Seeing as Christianity is THE most intolerant religion in the history of the world (Crusades anyone?) I don't think us atheists own you so much as a micron of respect.

I would have sufficient respect to not say it to your face, but this is a public forum so don't read threads with 'Jesus' in the title and expect people to tread carefully.

there was a big show on discovery about it, so it may still be available online somewhere
Ah, the Discovery Channel! Almost as valid a source of info as Wikipedia!

The early Christians merged all their festivals and 'special' days into the pagan calender of events in order to make their religion more palatable - hence the term 'Holidays' (Holy days). To be honest, there wasn't much in the way of resistance seeing as they'd already smashed the rival temples and holy buildings, and killed all those who wouldn't convert.

it's worth watching as it puts out some very good theories though

but what did he do?

or what did he do that was different to what others were doing at the same time?

other than going mising and everyone saying he'd gone to heaven again, and mel gibson making a corker of a film about his last few hours, i don't see the significance of his "being special" to others who have done the same thing over the years

why don't peole believe in jesus but do believe in moses parting the seas and talking to bushes and climbing mountains and shit?

Jesus simply came out on top as he ended up with the biggest gang, nothing more, nothing less.

I don't know anyone who doesn't believe in Jesus, but believes in Moses!! They're all stories, or parables with 'meaning' intended to teach.

Amongst other links that i have not mentioned.
Would it really make any difference if there were people around of that bloodline? You really have to be religious to believe that there would be something special about it.

The first written accounts of Jesus Christ, IIRC, came roughly 80 years after he supposedly existed and the miracles happened. That would be like someone looking back to the great depression now and, with no other evidence, coming up with a detailed description of events. Knowing that really puts into perspective perhaps how much - or little - credence these descriptions should be given with regards to their accuracy.

No, but it would be a cool claim to fame!

I'm genuinely related to Butch Cassidy, but I'd get much better pub bragging rights if I said I was related to Jebus!

but saying that, so are about 5,000 odd of my family (royalty) and all the light skinned punjabi's (ayrian) so not really a claim to fame is it

The holocaust is an interesting one:

Although I do believe that it has happened, I do not believe the numbers per camp or in total to be accurate for the simple reason that the jerry's can't even organise a loveparade with 300.000 people properly, let alone gas six million jews in the relative short period of time the extermination camps were actually operating.

Other thing that gets on my nerves is that people tend to go on about the 6 million jews the jerry's killed, but not the HUGE ammounts of gays, gypo's, mentally disabled and so on.

On that note: my grandfather died in one of the camps as well...

And not because he was jewish, obviously not because he was gay....

...but because the dumb fucker insistid on getting pissed whilst on duty on the watchtower!

You love posting that one dont you

Although you are correct in your jesting that a lot of other sections of society suffered and that did im sure include many of the guards who were forced into work they didnt want to do at the risk of being killed or sent to the soviet front etc, it cant be good for your mental state to be involved in that sort of thing, im pretty sure I couldnt cope with it and would just shoot myself rather than have to treat others like that.

apparently there is/was a simulation and the parting of the red sea at that time frame was possible if there was a wind blowing at over 63 mph in that part of the sea where it's the shallowest

LOL Yes I am particulary fond of that one!

Actually, very valid point with regards to people being forced into work they didn't want to do.
People tend to make out as if all the Germans were loving the idea of genocide but they really didn't.
Loads of guards and other personel were severely traumatised due to their work but absolute power corrupts absolutely...many people 'grew into' the idea and way of life.
People were almost brainwashed into believing that what they did was for a greater good.

With regards to rather shooting yourself than treating others this way: many people say this but tests show that although you'd want to do it, most wouldn't.
As it turns out people have little qualms about torturing people when given the opportunity and when people 'of authority' tell them it's ok.

I've read up on several men and women who worked in the deathcamps and you would not believe the crazy shit they'd do just because they could...

I am sure a lot of people would succumb to the dark fantasies that lurk in the back of their minds when giving the power and the right circumstances...I know I probably would to some extent...stapeling shut Dojj's mouth together with Ginge's would be hard to resist!

What gets me is in the beginning God created Adam and Eve and they had kids. Then what? It turned into an incestious fuck-fest, that's what!

The Bible, and religion on the whole, is utter shite!
