Default Connecting your to a cinema system

I've got a strange issue when running my pc through the cinema system, basically I get a constant whine through the speakers and generally the sound quality is naff.

I've tried several cables now and currently using a 10m continuous wire as I had been using one with a joiner. Its wired straight out of the line out of the pc into the audio in on the front of the cinema system.

It makes no difference what input you use on the cinema system its just a very poor sound.

Pc is using a onboard sound card, can't see why that would make any difference tbh, iirc the last pc I had was no different.

I believe the cinema system has a optical connection so if I changed my sound card on the pc could I use that and is it likely to sort the problem out ?

Any help would be apprecited as its getting on my tits when watching films or listening to music !
