we did work for a rope access company two years ago,they all have a screw loose imo.
the managed to get me to abseil(sp) down a little rock formation abt 40-50ft and i was fooking shiting!

I think you meant you would do it if you was on crack. 
It would be a pain in the arse you would get up there and it would be lunch time so all the way back down go to the cafe have a big fry up, then back up again then you get a shit come on, all the way back down again " you just wouldn't get any work done.

I really want to do rope access stuff, already got some NDT tickets through work (marine engineer/naval architect) but not getting any closer at the moment.

Its the bits where he unhooks for a while that make it seem so nuts, but I assume he's tied to his climbing partner and that all times the top guy isnt directly attached to the tower his climbing partner still is, so in reality its actually pretty safe relatively speaking as he's still attached?
