Compressor any Good?
Hi Guys
Is this any good.

Seems to shift more air than all the other is that the most important thing. Does anyone suggest anthing else?
I dont want to go more than £400 as its only for the garage!

it's alright but depends what your gonna use it for, light use then yes but i'd want a bigger tank, 150L + for air tools/car spraying, ideally 3hp+ motor, 14+cfm & 150L+ tank is what i'd look for

I have a 25L 1 1/2 hp one that is about 12-15 years old, never had an oil change,(cheaper not to just buy new) and I use air tools with that, anything apart from a DA will be workable, not continuously but if only for working on car I find mine is fine, I have another air line at the rear of the garage by the bench for air tools, depending on what you're doing I find it fine 99% of the time doesn't cause any problem.
I bought another for round my place just to clean the hoover filters out, as tired of trudging round to me garage, that was same spec(well 24L) made by wolf bought from aldi for £70 with tyre inflator, air gun and impact sockets.

I've got the older version of that.
Direct drive is noisey, I keep mine in an out-house next to the garage.
3hp motor will blow 13amp fuses especially on a cold day first start up, you need it wired direct to a 20amp supply or use a "special" 13amp fuse.

it's a lot of money for the size of compressor, and don't forget to add the cost of all the other bits and bobs on top if you don't already have the drier and regulator and oiler and stuff plus the little bits of hose
i've got a 150 litre one that needs to be wired directly to the fusebox on a 32a thingy and i think arch has the same, and it's birlliant, but you won't get much change from £500

I had an Clarke SE16c150 which was an awsome bit of kit... They sell them in machine mart, but if you find an agricultural type supplier they are generally cheaper.

so i need a 150.
My garage power definately is going to need upgrading, ive only got a standard 5mil cable (i think) from the house so thats a must especially with the welder im going to be getting.
I really cant spend £500 on a compresser. The welder i want is £600 and i have nothing to weld or cmpress so to speak lol.
I was looking to spend under a grand all in for welder and compresser.
Going to get the shotblaster which is £400 and the parts washer which is £200.
I already have plasma cutter!
this is going to be costing a fortune so i do need to keep costs down.
But thanksguys i wont bother with this one, anyone else with any links. I take it i dont want DD, i cant be too noisey!

Clarke Industrial Air Compressor (OL) - SE15C150
we have one of these mate and also the next size down, cant fault them keeps up with gravity spray gun and air tools only DA will make it struggle, had the smaller one about 20yrs now an no probs, if you going to do it go for the best you can afford, and they both run fine on house mains in fact they both run together most of the time.

my 150 litre tank kept up with everything other than the saw ut it's the biggest single phase one they did back in the day
had it a while now and it's a bitch to drain the tank every time you turn it off and wait for it to fill up again, but it lasts so much longer it's worth it

theres a drain plug, usually a screw, at the bottom of the tank that you let the air out of after every use, it's due to the natural air moisture collects at the bottom of the tank and unless you drain it after every use it will rust the tank!!!
every use is a bit excessive, depends how long/frequency you use it, in the bodyshop it's drained every night, however mine at home which i use quite alot is every sunday

20K+ Super Poster.
For any with awkward to reach drain taps, simply replace with a lecky valve about £11 last time I bought one and fit in place power on valve closes and open when power is off so is auto, or just put on a £5 gate valve.
Cfm ratings are ok but the FAD is the true indicator of performance, free air delivery.
