Mk3 escrort RS1600i-has it a hydralic clutch?

brother is thinking of buying one of these and is not long after an ankle operation and his left ankle isnt that strong at present,
have these cars got A HYDRALIC CLUTCH SYSTEM,
are there clutch easy to press in general?
is it usually short or long or light or heavy standard?
is it hard to install an new clutch in one and how much for a good clutch kit?

ps are thee a good car, what power are they standard 90 bhp?
what all should i be looking for when viewing other than rot?

Im pretty sure they are on a cable. Clutches arnt that bad to change either. Where abouts is your biting point on the pedal. Is it near the top of the pedals travel.

They are 100% cable with that abysmal ratchet and pawl system where you get a clicking of the pedal as it tries to adjust, fucking total crap.

I cant see it being too difficult to convert, but you may have to drill a hole at the top of the gearbox housing to accept the pipe in and the bleed nipple.it maybe easier just to use the Ka/fiesta box and just change the pedal box instead of drilling.the boxes are tough on the Ka and I believe can take up to 300bhp,they've got nice ratios as well which would suit the Rs motor.whole set up wouldn't cost you more than about £100 including the pedalbox etc.

One thing to be a bit careful of is where the starter is situated, ford used a few different casings over the years but with the same internals so make dude your starters in roughly the same place.thinking about it as well,a mk6/7 escort or mk5 fiesta tddi should have the same box as well, pretty sure there's a load of variants out there.

The hydraulic clutch is light years in difference to push compared to the cable system.

As for the 16i,yes rot, also check it IS a genuine one,it has the twin coils, the nice interior, hasn't been rung etc.

Tough mechanically but expensive to buy.I'm not a huge fan myself as inprefer the s1 turbo but each to their own.

They're on cable, however they are not significantly heavier to push than the average car.
