Ford Focus 1.6 Lurching/kangarooing

Default Ford Focus 1.6 Lurching/kangarooing

Woman next door has a 51 focus 1.6 and once every while it will just start lurching then it will stop.
Shes had it in at an auto electrican and they couldnt find anything with there computer

Anyone any ideas?

Any other symptoms? Just 'lurching' could be one of a number of things! MAF, VSS, etc etc

my dad had the same problem with his, think it was the speed sensor also had some problems with the coil pack.

Well funny you should ask its got the typical focus prob of the speedo cutting out witch with either be the sensor in the gbox or instrument cluster.

Its had the coil pack,leads and plugs replaced

Usually only does it in the lower rev ranged 2-4k

The speed sensor does go, but normally starts making the speedo play up - dropping to 0mph, and occasionally flickering for a good few weeks prior to getting symptoms like cutting out etc.

I'd put good money on it being the VSS then! They're a right pig to get out!

Cheers for the help. Yeah I've changed 2 before 1 was ok to do but the other someone had a go before and broke the end of the pin so had to take out the box and drill it out
