Exclamation Check my GREAT filling out! Need help...

Hello,

So i had ago at filling today so did my dad... and the neighbour (neighbour does alot of old cars/lorrys) What the hell was i thinking?

Started from this

Then after finding out someone did a worse job than me and putting filler in a massive hole, So after a welding a plate on the back this is what it came to

To this

I am trying to copy the other side to make the shape right as well but im just ...SHIT

If you could see it in real life its worse! The pictures make me look good...

I know it takes time but i cant get any of it right or close. I am going to have it all resprayed and professionally filled finished but i was hoping i could give it a go and do most the work (for a cheaper price)

So could anyone give me a guide or tell me what to do. I can do the filling over a small hole and sand it back

Many Thanks Eigdoog

Filler can be a nightmare, and I run a bodyshop!!!get the mix right, pea hardener, golf ball filler, mix it in real nice, don't forget you can still tap it about once the fillers hard with a panel beating hammer.

You need a good spreader card, don't be too rough with the filler, try and work it quite quickly, build it up a fair bit higher(2-3mm) than where you need to finally be.usually we go accross first then spread the card down the width of the card which tends to leave little ridges where the card gaps end/begin,you'll know what I mean when you try it.on an area that small you can do 90% of the repair by hand using an 80grit disc/paper on a rubber block.keep going until you're happy with the rough shape.smooth it down with 240 grit, then 400 grit and spray some filler primer on it,or high build if your experienced.

Give it a long time to dry then spray a very light "guide coat" in satin black,it'll look speckled, just literally to make a covering ready to wet flat off with 800 paper and a block until perfectly smooth, you should be ready for paint then after thouroughly cleaning it.

Would this make a big difference as i have welded a plate on the back?
