Ive git a mk2 xr2 and am looking to convert to a black top is this the best way, what gear box would i need and what compications are ther i.e. Drive shafts and things.

use a rs turbo box and xr2 driveshafts, im running 350bhp black top zetec with a cts stage 2+ box and its fine

Use standard gearbox, generally a very easy conversion.

its easy to fit a black top, if you use a bc gearbox with a front starter(rst box) you will need to chop some of the fins off the sump so the starter clears and a little off the back part so the driveshafts clear but its all easy to see what needs doing, you will need to shave a bit off the engine mount bracket on the o/s strut tower as the cam belt tensinor sits to close to it and can hit it, if you need any pics to show you what needs doing send me a pm and i will sort some for you but wont be able untill next weekend as ime away next week

Thank you all for your replies very helpfull theres just one more thing im going to run it on carbs so whats the best thing to do with the ignition is there a way around having to wire in an ecu

use a 2L with 1.8 sump pick up water pump xr2 or xr2i starter xr2 alt with a zetec pully rs turbo or xr2 box and xr2 shafts mine is on the standerd injection with rs 1800 inlet (ho) and tb get your self on xrtwo.com
