Default Mondeo modification advice!

Stuck this in another section with no replies so thought I'd stick it in here to see if it'll raise an eyebrow or two...

Might sound a bit stupid but I have never ever seen anybody do a Mondeo Estate up...ESPECIALLY not a TD, so I've been thinking to myself once I get myself up on my feet financially that I may do it up just a little bit.

Things I definitely want to do are alloys probably the Cossie type 5 spokes done in black but I was thinking of sticking a kit on there too if there is such a thing for a Mk2 Estate, But I was also wondering about a couple of other things.

I was also thinking of sticking a cherry bomb on there and definitely a BOV is there a specific type of blow off that I'd need or would any work, and any thoughts on the cherry bomb...

Any help/thoughts/advice or even slatings would be great!!!

LOL @ cherry bomb exhaust, were not in the 80s now

Mrk2 mondeo estate for looks is the ST24/ST200 Bodykit, which is bigger/deeper sportier front and rear bumpers and sideskirts for starters

Maybe folks aint taking you seriously due to the exhaust your talking about ...............

I take it you mean the mondeo 5 spoke wheels. Or do you mean escort cossie wheels.

A fella who shops @ the leccy store I work at has a modified mk2 mondeo estate.

Its a fucking travesty. I'd only recommend it if you were putting the ST kit on it, otherwise, grow up lol

buy an st,dont waste money on a mk2 when you could buy 1 that ford did for less.and a blow off vale/dump valve wont work as it doesnt make enough boost or works in a different way im sure.

u cant put a blow off valve on a diesel, the inlet manifold has no throttle body, so any air that the turbo blows can only go in the engine.

if i HAD to modify the diesel, i would decat it but NOT put a cherry bomb on, turn up the fuel pump, wind the boost up a notch, K&N filter and just leave it at that until i could aford an engine that isnt entirely made from iron

The alloys on the one posted really let it down, look like they should be on a jacked up clio tbh lol. needs something a little less 'chav' like some multispokes or something.

Will cost you more than the car's worth to fit the full kit - that's if you can find one!

Right so I take it that DervDoctor is selling BOV's that are of no use what so ever because you can't fit one?

As it goes I would have an ST but being 24 with no NCD as been on other policies I can't hardly afford to insure the diesel so that's a No no there.

I'm not asking how to make it look nicer, go faster or anything like that, all I am looking for is something to add that personal touch to my car...

you asked peoples opinions on what kit, exhaust, blow off valve etc and they tell you then say youre not asking for advice.thats other peoples opinions and if you want to make it personal then dont ask what everybody else would do.the only car i have ever heard of thats a diseasel and had a dump valve was the old puegeot 306's.and it didnt really work.if i was you i would get the pump opened as long as its not the endura tdi engine as they pumps dont improve as much as the older 1's when fiddled with and fit your cherrybomb if they still make them which i doubt.

Put on a tiny set of ill fitting wheels, make it undriveable, stick an unreliable engine in it, then make the boot floor space totally unuseable, sounds like just what he's after

Stick to keeping the mens room supplied kosman!!

Well I was actually asking what could be done with it not what mods to put on it is the Endura engine as for the Cherrybomb they do still make the original StateSide Cherrybomb exhaust, they've also got the mid section now too but besides that I'm rapidly going off the idea of owning the Mondeo it's an honest motor with low miles but it's gunna cost me so much to insure the fucking thing!!!

And that's before having to declare mods

I've seen loads of modded estate mondies over the years and one of them was the td. Derv doc will fit you a dump valve on that engine but its Ł350 and pointless.

Take my advice dont spend much modding a mondeo, they aint worth shit (and this is coming from one of the only people in the uk who has mondeos with real mods and money spent)

you never get your money back from mods unless you break the car and its a popular, like a cossie.its a shame as mondeos are nice cars and you get a lot for your money.why is it depreciation is so much, who decides, that glass's guide is the bible with 2nd hand dealers.

out of interest how does the derv doctor dump valve work? i can see NO way a 'proper' dumpvalve could work on that engine, look at your inlet manifold.

is it just a mechanism that bypasses air from the turbo to make 'pitsshhhh' noise every time you let of the power ?

The market itself dictates how much a car is worth. It's simply what people are prepared to pay. There's just not much demand for the more 'exclusive' Mondeos like the ST200, despite them being good cars they're just not particularly desirable.

but everybody with a mondeo wants some st action so will pay good money for interiorss, wheels and the kit so just now they are worth more in bits but in years to come when they are rare the price should go up!

its a mondeo, so regardless of weather its an ST or not, it will depreciate like a stone. two examples, the ST220, a half decent 02 plate one can be had for as little as Ł3K, and the ST200LTD, only 300 made, so the rarity adds to the value, and you can pick a half decent one of those up for Ł2.5K, in both cases, a RIDICULOUS amount of car for the money, but, because its a mondeo, there worth peanuts.

i paid Ł5600 for a MK3 Zetec-S V6 when it was just shy of five years old, was a Ł20K car new, so lost basically 75% of its value in under five years, two and a half years later, i got Ł2K for it.

i have learnt by my mistake, bought one that was three years old, and another, as i said, just under five years old, i will now buy them when they are older and worth peanuts, and i wont lose as much money on them, because of the four ive had, the last two V6, ive never had a major problem, they go well for what they are, look part if its a 'sporty' model, good spec, cheap parts, you cant go wrong, aslong as your not bothered about the 'its a mondeo' snobbery.

Which is exactly why I broke mine!

The price won't go up, it'll just keep going down. The market for old, big enginned cars has always been poor (just check out the depreciation on a 750i) and as the Mondeo is devoid of 'coolness' it'll never ever become an appreciating classic no matter how much you want it to

Me too what are those black 5 spokes? I want some lol

It's true what's being said though I bought my st24 in April with low miles and good service history for Ł500 it's a cracking car it's the 3rd I've had and the best by a long way and its what I like which is why I've since spent Ł700 modding it lol I know I won't get it back but I'm happy with it and ill carry on spending untill the car no longer does it for me
