but if its a sunny dry day they wont test it-if they do insist it must be tested tell them
you only go by what passion ford members say and fuck VOSA.

Cool - i was hoping that would be the case . Its just the wiring to my wiper has been cut (easy enough to fix I know) but as its booked for an MOT at 1pm today I just panicked that I needed to fix it now.

I stand corrected then.

I was under the impression it is tested if the car has one, if it doesnt then it isnt.

A couple of times MOT tester has made sure my back windscreen scoosher thing works and the wiper works, but it is not an item on his check list so if neither worked nothing he can do apart from tell me if he so wishes.

Glad he makes you smile, he makes me question the world we live in...the way people come out with something so strong and in your face and they are so far from right it isnt even funny. ( yes i know this is just a question about a rear wiper but still )

method of inspection:

Operate the washers and the wipers and note the swept area of the windscreen

means only for windscreen...

I'm pretty sure you don;t need a revers light, as long as your car doesn;t have reverse

*Please understand I am taking the piss and actually know the reverse light isnt tested

ah well,

if you read the manual you will see you dont actually have to test the reverse lights function BUT,

when testing the rear lights the manual states you can test there interaction with ANY other light, so in that instance if you put the reverse lights on and they interact with a testable light, they can become failable!

ie if you put the reverse lights on and the christmas tree effect takes place and the brake lights flash, its a fail.

its all about how you interpret the manual, and the word ANY doesnt just mean testable lights, its ANY on the car.

ther same goes for the N/S fog light. you dont need one, but it can become testable in certain times

unless they have changed the wordings in the manual since i last saw it lol,
