i had a phone call of the office to say they had a letter of the police for me as i was working up in aberdeen last week and on the way home nere carlisle i sore a van park on a bridge . well there doing me for 80mph in a 70mph on the M6 . Im yet to get the paper work from the office but iv been told there giving me 2. options .....1. £60 and 3. points 2. £70 no points but go on a speed awarenss course for one day . im told they are giving me 5 placeses i can go on the speed awarenss course but there all up carlisle way so the shit is i would go on the course as in the next 4 weeks i will a clean licence as iv only got 3.points and they have been on for 4 years . but when iv got to get a day of work then do over 300 miles round trip it might just have to take the points which is a shit

 

A 300 mile round trip is worth it to keep the points off your licence though! What happens if you get caught again in the next coupla years and get some more, points don't make prizes.....

 

shouldnt speed i got done in the works van on the a46 doing 77, when i should have been doing 60... copper said do u know what the speed limit is on this road for a van and i says YEAH 60!! felt like a right cock afterwards, but that got me a 60 fine and 3 points

 

just got my through as well from works van, 5 points and £300 fine BOOOOO

thats shit mate i was doing about 90 when i thought wots that so i hit the brake,s and got it down to 70 when i went under the van so im very lucky to get do for 80

 

i also hit the brakes hard to when i saw them, but they still got me with the gun from 1200 yards away

 

Deffo take the course mate,i have never had that chance and now have 14 points on my licence,do 30,000miles a year and just know i will get done again then i will lose my job,house etc

how can you have 14 points on your license 12 is a 6 month ban.

 

did the speed awareness course 2 weeks ago.not what you think,and quite interesting.

 

Due to the high amount of miles i drive and the fact i would lose my job and then my house the courts allowed me to keep my licence but the next time i get caught i am instantly banned for 6 months,its a nightmare trying to stick to speed limits in big cities and places that you dont know very well and sometimes its hard to tell what the limit is

a lad at work went on to 12 points and had to go cort he got £600 fine and 2 week ban he was told if he got any points in the next 12 month he would have a 6 month ban min . so the boss tuck him of the road and put him in the office

 

i used to do over 100k a year, clocked up 6 pts in 3 years, did ok, my boss got loads, got done for totting 2wice in those 3 years, 6 mths ban clears the points and he was off again

 

i didnt get the option, it was a straight 3 points and 60 quid. all i was doing is overtaking a lorry, not my fault my car does 50-70+ reallly quickly hahaa

 

i would argue it mate that copper said to us that night up dudley that your allowed 10% plus 3 mph on top.

 

So your defence is "I broke the law, but only by a little"?
Speeding is an "absolute" offence and there is no legal provision for any allowance, but ACPO used to suggest 10% + 2 mph.

 

My concern is wether or not you'd get there or just breakdown on the M6?

In my opinion mate I think you should just take the points, it'll cost you more I imagine to miss a day off work, pay fuel to get there etc...

i did course year ago loada ass ,had sit in class room alday going throw alsorts ,then had drive with an instructer later in day telling me how my driving was crap cause i used all the gears slowing down told him "you carn't miss gears in a wrx" id rather have points than do it again

 

This did make me laugh.Taught my daughter to drive properly (IMO) using the gears, planning ahead etc and the 1st official lesson she had taught her to steam up to junctions in 3rd, just about stopping at the white line so that folk swerve thinking she's pulling out! She passed 1st time and it's taking me ages to get her back to where I had got her before lessons

Im going to do the course its all payed for and iv only got to go 25 miles up the road to do it and its 4 1/2 long on the 25th oct 1.PM stafford job done

 

Course is only 4 hours long, ive got a letter infront of me telling me all about how to book mine

Alot of people are being given the option of doing one of these courses at the minute.

The letter I got was from my local authority giving me the option to pay online at www.pds-dis.co.uk or send a cheque, it is £75 for the one im having to go on but it is only 5 mins from my house.

 

i had 1 4 years ago, 34 in a 30. i went in my s2 90" rs turbo.
by the end of it i had had 2 of the instructers out in it and a big pat on the back for how clean and tidy it was. no police are there just driving instructors.
