Default WW2 Willys Jeeps

I've always loved these but the prices are just too high for what would be a very rarely used toy.

Mahindra are an Indian car-maker who made a car based on the original Jeep but with a Peugeot diesel engine.

Anyone have any knowledge of these that can tell me if they are complete dogs, or OK for a summer thrashabout, and if they are any good off-road?

Why not get a jago jeep and then convert it to a willys jeep replica?

I have one in bright yellow for a bit of summer fun and I love it, cost me £800 and £75 a year to insure, bargain!

Are they any good in the rough?

I built an Eagle RV years ago and it was alright but 2wd was a bit of a let-down so I wouldn't want the Jago for the same reason.

I know the Willys jeep can go anywhere, in fact I remember a magazine years ago that used a Willys to rescue all the modern 4x4s that got stuck, but are the Mahindras any good off road?

It seems Mitsubishi also built a jeep under licence but, while they are cheaper than a real Willys, they are a lot more expensive than the Mahindra.
