Watching that program was great, when my dad was a tool maker he did make soem bits for it whenit was being built, the reason the yanks didnt want it over there was that they were jealous we beat them to it, i honestly think it will never look out dated, it just looks the bollox and looks like it doing a million miles an hour just standing there.

Guys from work remember the noise when it used to fly past just after the take off.

Not sure if anyone knows, but Russians briefly had a supersonic plane aswell - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRr_rlDOIdQ

I love Concorde just a shame it finished due to a list of reasons including 9/11 attacks, my grandad was involved with it from that start at Filton, only small part but still amazing to know, i also use to work at Marshall Aerospace the company that designed and built the nose cone for concorde

I think BA should allow it, i mean if they agreed to it and made sure it was in BA colours for the 2012 Olympics, it would be a large PR boost for them after the strikes, plus BA could sell tickets for its first maiden flight since 2003 very quickly maybe a large amount of celebs

Would be great to see it happen much like the Vulcan which is now flying

Concorde, amazing aircraft. Pilots described it as being the passenger aircraft equivalent of a ferrari. The whole airframe was designed to compress at supersonic speeds, not sure on the exact figure but the length of the plane actually stretches a little over mach 1.
Very small and cramped, but who cares when it only takes a couple of hours to get there as opposed to 8!

When I was a kid about 25 odd years ago now(fuck I feel old!!) when we used to play in underhill park you could hear the sonic boom as it went supersonic over the Bristol channel, sounded like thunder, awesome machine. I remember the first time I heard I shit it a bit but after a few times you never even noticed it.

Lovely plane, can't believe we've gone back in time with it.
I was on that one too.

Def think its a step back removing it from service

If it is such a problem to get the old ones back in service.

Why dont airbus or beoing design a new upto todays standard that can achieve the same speed? They must not see enough business to make it worth while could be the only reason not to do it?

For those interested in Concorde, I highly recommend watching 3 youtube videos from "Gordon"

Here is the Part 1 (Part 2 and 3 are in the right hand column):

If you haven't flown on it, this gives you the best impression of the plane I have ever seen. Saw the final flight in over my parents place in Basingstoke and could almost set your watch by it as a kid flying in daily. Also been to Yeovil like Flux Capicitor.
