Default MK4 or MK5 Escort Which can you make handle best

Out of the MK3/MK4 and MK5 Escort which can you make handle the best. I currently have a MK5 XR3i Track car with a 180bhp zetec, but the MK3/MK4 Escort is lighter so would be better for acceleration and braking but which can be made to handle the best.

In standard trim I find the MK4 to be better than the MK5 but that is not to say with lowering and camber kits that the mk5 can't be made to handle better!

personally id say the mk5

mine was lowered on koni adjustables, polybushed all round, adjustable lower arms, strut brace, and its been the best handling car ive driven. when properly set up of course. i dare say the mk3 would be just as good, but im yet to drive one thats properly set up

Having been playing with Mk3 Escorts for near on 20 years that's my chioce if the car is for track use. With a well set up suspension they are great.
